Lost things

  • My eldest niece came over on her day off and talked to me for a few mins. I always enjoy her visit.. she gives the best hug and she can lift your spirits like a ray of sunshine. But today i found myself bothered and annoyed that i couldn’t find my address book. My sister texted asking for family addresses. My nephew is graduating on the 24th. So here i am barely Listening to her and feeling bad because i usually always give her my full attention. Yet she goes on talking with that beautiful smile on her face and joyful tone in her voice. While im thinking im letting my nephew down if i dont find this book. God fore-bid my sister have her crap together.. i guess thats what they all have me for… some tings lost find it.. some thing broke, fix it.. or buy new. Do you know where this is? Do you know where that is? Can you look this up? How do you do this, How do you do that? One thing at a time. I found the addresses i needed thanks to messenger. But that book is in a safe place. One even i cant find. I’ll find it when i don’t need it. When I think about all the things lost and or misplaced. There is just never enough time to find them all. My nieces and nephew growing up way to fast and i hardly get time with them like i used to. I wish i could stop time and hold them for a while.

It sounds like you had a really lovely visit from your niece, and it’s completely understandable that you were also feeling the pressure of needing to find your address book with your nephew’s graduation coming up. It’s tough when you’re pulled in two directions like that – wanting to be present for your niece and also needing to sort something important for your family.

It’s so true, isn’t it? Those little moments with family, especially the younger ones, just fly by. It’s a sweet thought, wanting to just freeze time for a bit and hold onto those moments. And you’re definitely not alone in feeling like the go-to person for finding things! It’s a common family dynamic, even if it can feel a bit overwhelming sometimes.

I’m glad you managed to get the addresses you needed through Messenger. Isn’t it always the way with those missing items? They reappear just when you’ve given up looking! Hopefully, your address book will turn up soon, maybe in the most unexpected place.

It sounds like you cherish your niece and nephew a lot, and even though time feels like it’s speeding up, the love and connection you share with them are what truly matter. Those hugs and that sunshine-like spirit from your niece are precious, and I’m sure your nephew appreciates you thinking of him for his graduation.

@ty-jackson yes it was a lovely visit just like today when she came to bring us handsoap and dark chocolate my dad requested from the store she works at. Again she had so much to say with her joyful spirit lighting the room.  I miss the days when both my nieces and nephew came running in screaming “Auntie!!! We’ve got so much to tell you.” Or they would have some project from school they did. Now you cant get a moment to even get a hug. If you do count youself lucky. Lol.  Still i cherish them very much so.

You’re right. Things have a way of popping up out of nowhere. I’m sure that book will show up evenually. Still in the mean time i have a pile of things to sort through and can’t seem to get motivated.

@ty-jackson im also glad to know im not alone when it comes to being the go to person for finding things. Yes sometimes its super frustrating and other times it can be rewarding.  You do what you can for those you love and hopefully they do appreciate it.
