Dimensional Reality: Oz Ch. 2R

Good eve to all.  Here’s chapter 2 of the revised DR:Oz story.  I hope everyone likes it.  I decided that I’m going to keep the old version up, mainly because I don’t want to lose all the notes that people left for me.  So, this is the revised version, which is why it has the "R" next to it.  Let me know what you think.  Good eve to all.

Chapter 2

Dorothy knew that tonight was the right night to try her spell.  The moon was in a good position, the weather was calm.  Most importantly, her aunt and uncle were out of the house, after all it was bingo night at the community center.  So she wasted no time as soon as she saw the Buick leave the driveway.  Dorothy gathered the required items in her room and started to get ready.  She cleared a space on the floor in the room and set up the candles in a circle around her “work space.”  Then, with a grease pencil, she began drawing a large rune on the wooden floor, working slowly and carefully.  Finally, her knees aching she stood up to admire her work.  She looked in one of her books to make sure the rune was perfect.  She nodded to herself and then got back on the floor and started drawing an Egyptian hieroglyph over the rune.  Finally, standing up and massaging her knees and back she looked over her handiwork.  She nodded to herself and grabbed a book of matches.  She turned down the lights to their dimmest setting and lit all the candles.  Dorothy lit two different sticks of incense and placed them on either side of her glyph/rune.  Then she took the parchment she had written her spell on and a single silver chime on a silk string.  Dorothy stepped into the middle of her circle, standing on the rune/glyph.  She felt tingles of excitement up and down her spine as she stepped into the center of the rune/glyph.  She took a deep breath and began reading from the parchment.  As she reached the second line the words began to glow.  Dorothy’s breath caught, but somehow she managed to keep reading.  Wind began to blow through the open window.  The shadows in the room began to thicken and come together in clouds and wisps.  The rune/glyph began to swirl together beneath her feet.  The clouds of shadows were drawn into the swirling circle on the floor.  The wind grew stronger and stronger, the shadows became a swirling mass around her.  The things in her room began to swirl within the wind.  She felt herself caught up in the wind, the shadows swirling faster and faster around her blurring the rune/glyph until it was a black space beneath her.  Dorothy gasped as she realized that she was sinking into that blackness.  She struggled in the wind around her, she couldn’t move.  She just sunk deeper into the blackness.  She made one last effort to free herself as she sunk to her neck.  She started to rise up a few inches and one of her stone candle holders swirled around and struck her head.  She felt herself sinking and as her vision blurred, she sank into the darkness.
