Day 2
Thank you to everyone for the messages of support. They are much appreciated and needed. I also found out that through the American Cancer Society’s site, I managed to get signed up for QuitNet with all the bells and whistles (i.e., the goodies that one normally needs to pay for); so if anyone is interested, they are conducting a research thing on online quit help, and if you sign up they give you full access to a quitting site. In my case it’s QuitNet, which I had stumbled upon myself; well sheesh, I used another email address and signed up as now I get the complete site for free as opposed to paying whatever the heck it was they wanted for a premium subscription. Let’s hear it for the American Cancer Society and research.
When I walked outside yesterday, this is what I saw:
and
and
So of course I had to dash back upstairs and grab my camera and take the above.
A couple of whittery bits. Have a grand day. I will gnaw my way through.
After a sort of storm
A city lace bedecked
antimacassars require of us respect
we move quiet through this parlor
made sweet in this unaccustomed decoration
exterior design
Odd to see a path end
someone just got tired of shoveling
past half completed
depleted
and lining the streets it already
tells a gray tale of too much traffic
~~~~~~~~~~~
Respiration
Respiration
the deepest exhaustion
but no energy expended
unnaturally less except in
respiration
Frugality
because beyond what is provided
lies a vision crystal clear
needing more than is encompassed so
frugality
Wherever this meant to go
in its peculiar shape
doesn’t matter now because it stopped
working that way
I was awake at the very moment my movement
made a crick form in my neck and shoulder
on the left side
in my just asleep oblivion
I couldn’t remember how to move
Home hasn’t arrived now
there are ingredients to learn
birds careening off of another Atlantic shore
sea spray slaps against stones and gates
I’m a world away but not really
just learning respiration
Beautiful
I LOVE when snow is sticky like that – the “Winter Wonderland” thing. You GO girl! I am so proud of you- I know it is tough.
Good luck!
Warning Comment
I bet your consumption of Starbucks now will increase.
The snow on those trees is so pretty! Nicorette has come out with a mint flavored chewing gum. May the universe conspire to assist you in your endeavors! Hugs,
Had another thought – for each pack you don’t smoke, put the money in a piggy bank – that you can’t get into except by breaking it 🙂
Your whitters are augmented so nicely with those photos. Day 2. That means you got through Day 1. Good for you, my friend. Hugs,
So proud of you, M.E.! If it helps at all, just remember that your identity is not defined by the smokes…either way…I know that it helped me. Why, just this morning, I was making secret plans to buy smokes to “accompany” me on my grocery trip today (loneliness is a big trigger for me), when I realized: I am not a smoker, so why, oh WHY would I do that? Still rootin’ for you, dear one!
Warning Comment
You made good use of the digital camera. Quitting should work out. See you’re already inspired. Must take a look at the web site. Go well
Warning Comment
I’m gonna have to go check that site out
Warning Comment
WooHoo for day two and you!!! 😀 Yea! for online support too! Wonderful that you shared these photos with us 🙂 And amazing that you have whitters to share too even during the gnawing time. Keep at it. You are a success. Hugs and Love,
Beautiful whitters, and great pictures. 🙂
Warning Comment
Beautiful! Love the way winter makes us shovel AND think! If we get enough of that white stuff!Beats the eternal mists anyday!
Warning Comment
I did it by using the gum — it worked for me. 8 years ago last October. You can go to http://www.quitmeter.com and watch how much money you’re saving — that’s certainly an incentive (smoking costs serious money these days!)
Warning Comment
May your respirations renew as you become freer and freer of tobacco.
Warning Comment
thank goodness for your camera 🙂 *hugs*
Warning Comment
This looks mighty familiar.
