After the Fact Weekly AI Review

I forgot to post my AI review yesterday.  So even if it’s after the fact, here goes:

Bo — What’s with this song? B-O-R-I-N-G!!!  It’s a Long Long Road???  Ok, it started off slow and built up.  But there sure isn’t much to that song.  What can I say?  Not a great start, in my opinion, Bo.  He’s going to have to do better to beat Carrie’s teeny bopper fans who have nothing better to do than dial all night long.  A few almost-off, weak notes.  Hmmmm, nervous????  — Ok, Randy agrees with me.  And so does Simon.  Baaaaaaaad song choice.  But I don’t think he had a choice, did he?  Isn’t this one of the specially written songs?
 
Carrie — She’s starting too low, a range that isn’t good for her.  Lame words — did they write these songs?  Too cliched, sounds like a rehash from every badly written love song we’ve all heard before.  BUT — it’s catchier than Bo’s. 
 
Round 1 – Carrie
 
And I see Simon just agreed with me. 😉
 
 
Bo — Ah, Vehicle.  Excellent choice.  But where are the old Bo moves?  The hot mic handling?  Ok, now he’s moving.  All right now.  An excellent performance, but maybe not as hot as the first time we saw him sing it.
 
Carrie — Not my cup of tea, but I think she sang it well.
 
Round 2 – Bo
 
 
They said two originals — YIKES!!  That’s never good, when you can’t sing along.
 
Bo — Ok, his version of this song — Inside Your Head — is much better than Carrie’s.  It almost sounds like a completely different song.  The difference — he has subtlety, inflections, feeling.  Everything that Carrie is still lacking.  I’m feeling that this round will go to Bo before Carrie even sings . . . .
 
Carrie — Starting low.  Boring song, still.  She’s pushing too hard, straining her voice, off a bit here and there.  I thought she was going to cry at the end.  The stress must be awful for the poor little girl.  Randy is just being nice to her. 
 
Round 3 – Bo
 
 
Who will win?  I hate to type the name, but I think Carrie.  I just think she’s got the teeny bopper fans with the dialing fingers.  Have you noticed there has been no blow you away performances?  Fantasia rose above the fray a few times.  But neither Bo nor Carrie really has.
 
I wish Bo would win, but all in all I don’t think he delivered last night.  ;(

Last Night:
 

I can’t believe I just missed the first 14 minutes of the show. I checked my dvr when I got home and it was set to record, along with the Amber Frey movie.  But I just looked and it got dumped.  Hmmph. 
 
I just saw Bo sing Vehicle and tonight he did it the way he should have sung it last night — cool, vocally strong, sexy, confident.  That was sorely lacking last night. 
 
How hard must it be to carry on knowing that the judges all give the win to Carrie. 
 
Ok I’ve listened to her first song, and now their duet, and I still don’t care for her voice.  Nothing extraordinary about it.  He has a nicer tone to his voice — too bad about last night. 
 
Hmmm, I really don’t think Carrie would outsell all other idols before her, no matter what they say. 
 
This is the most bloated show in the history of TV — I’m now in pain.  Ugh!  And there’s still 40 minutes left.  ;(
 
Ok, Carrie just sang a nice duet with that guy from the band I never heard of.  It’s the nicest I’ve heard her sing.
 
There is poor Anwar trying to do too much with his voice and he’s just not capable of it.  He actually made Anthony sound good, and y’all know how much I didn’t like Anthony.
 
Ok, so they had to trash Walk This Way.  Whatever.  Filler.  Ok, now Nadia’s rocking it.  Too bad sheleft the contest so early.  I would have liked to see more of her.
 
Niiiiiiice, Nikko — found the key, quick!! 
 
Vonzell sounds good, barring X number of flat notes. 
 
Mikalah a blond?  And oh, she sounds awful.  Lindsay sounds pretty good.  Who put this hideous number together, or is that cats fighting outside?  Oy!
 
Bo looks like the happiest boy in the world.  Even if he loses, he’s going to feel like a winner after that.  Too bad he didn’t let loose like this last night — what a difference!  Could it be because those two originals were so far from what he usually does that he couldn’t get into the groove?  I am convinced they picked those two original songs with Carrie in mind.  Grrrrrr. 
 
Yup, Carrie won.  I knew those teenby boppers would keep on dialing her to a win.  Oh well.  Bo had it in his hands and he gave it away. 
 
I liked the way Bo sang the single better than Carrie did, but oh well.  And I will forgive her for singing so badly at the end since she was so emotional.
 
What a boring show, what a major disappointment.  BO is my American Idol.  But I have to pat myself on the back, I knew from the audition stand that Carrie and Bo would be the final 2.
