American Idol: 11 Remaining

Or more aptly titled this week: American Idol: Don’t Make Me Go Through That Again!

AmandaBack in the USSR — Starting off with a non-fave of mine.  ;(  Didn’t like it.  Didn’t like the sound of her voice.  Simply awful.

Kristy LeeYou’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away — Good song choice — lovely song.  That was just awful.  Horrible arrangement.  This would have been the perfect Brooke song — too bad.

David A.The Long And Winding Road — A meandering song.  He sang it very sweetly and I tried to stifle the yawns, unsuccessfully.  I’m not moved.

MichaelA Day in the Life — Uh, what happened here?  This is a really interesting trippy song, but he didn’t sing it particularly well.  I loved him last week, even though no one else seemed to, and this week blah.

So far I’m having a pretty sucky AI night . . .

BrookeHere Comes the Sun — Not her best performance. I think she’s gotten used to praise and this should knock her down a peg.

David C.Daytripper — Why oh why oh why?  Aren’t there a whole lot of better Beatles songs than these people are picking or was I just high throughout the 60s?  Ok, for a song I don’t particularly like, he sang it well.  At least he took control of the song.  Didn’t like the voice box thing – not for this song.

CarlyBlackbird — Someone, puh-leeze sing something I like.  ;(  Hey, Carly — the word BLACK is only one syllable and not BUH-LACK, ok?  I think she’s getting a bit full of herself.  Something about her really bothers me the way she accepts their compliments — like a queen accepting her due.

JasonMichelle — If there’s a Beatles song I hate, it’s this simpering piece of dreck.  What was the point of him singing this?  I don’t get it.  I like his voice, but this is such a throwaway song.

I’m having more fun watching Miko run around under a blanket while Gizmo attacks him from the top — much more fun than this wretched night of AI.  Maybe I need to take a nap and watch this again tomorrow, but that would be prolonging the torture.

SyeshaYesterday — Finally, 1 hour and 32 minutes into the show — a heartfelt performance.  I don’t care for all her vocal choices but at least she tried.  And she picked a good song.

Chikezie I’ve Just Seen a Face — Hmmm, I think I kind of like this song slow like this.  And now it’s fast and Chikezie’s having some fun, although this wasn’t entirely successful.  Still, compared to some of the others who dared to bore me tonight, The C Man woke me up a bit.  He shouldn’t play the harmonica though.

RamieleI Should Have Known Better — This always takes me back to A Hard Day’s Night, that scene on the train with Patti Boyd looking like a bunny rabbit.  This would have been so much better if David Cooke sang it.  Someone needs to help her pick her songs because this just isn’t cutting it.  She could maybe have song The Long and Winding Road.

Ok, now I feel like a big crab.  I pretty much hated everyone.  Maybe because I grew up listening to the Beatles and they’re all making me wish I was hearing them again and not these Idol wannabees.

Who should go home?  All of them, damn it!  ;(  Ok, bottom 3 — Amanda, Kristy Lee and Chikezie.  Or Ramiele.  Or Syesha.

What a crappy night.  What did you all think?

I thought it was a boring night. There were a few that I think did a good job (Chikezie, David A. and Amanda) but I wasn’t especially entertained. Too many boring or slow choices. Oh, and Kristy Lee needs to go home. I think tonight is her night.

Ditto…..they killed Beatles. 🙁 Still though – none of them were nearly as bad as ‘Eight Days a Week’, hoe-down style. I don’t believe I’ll ever recover from that one. LOL
