American Idol – 8 Guys

Okay, I am back to regular programming.  Sorry about last weeks lack of armchair quarterbacking.  There’s just a lot going on at home and honestly, I spent more time back and forth with Brian at MGH last week than I did at home.  Please excuse my lack of song titles this week, I just either don’t remember what they sang (which is pretty bad – for them) or I didn’t know the song.  Which, again, is bad for them.

Blake — ?? — What the hell kind of song is that?  It sounded really off-key and he totally lacked confidence in the beginning.  Towards the middle it got better, but noooooooooooooooo.

So we’re going to have some John Mayer and Peal Jam from Sanjaya and Sundance?  I’m going to be ill . . . .

Sanjaya — Waiting on the World to Change — I’m not a Mayer fan, but I really do like this song.  This boy is basically blah.

Sundance — Jeremy — Oh, no no no no no!  Please — can anybody do justice to a Pearl Jam song other than Eddie?  This was wrong.

Chris — ?? — This is not his genre and he seemed to lack confidence and had some off notes.  It’s good that he’s showing versatility but I’d rather he sang something like Missing You than whatever this was.

Jared — If You Really Love Me — Ok, not great, but he can carry a tune and he has nice tone.  Compared to most of the other guys, he did well but it was no winning performance.

Brandon — Celebrate — Ok, I hate this song and that whole genre of 70s ?? era songs.  He sang it well though.  There wasn’t anything original about it and it didn’t end too well.  Pretty good piano player.

Phil — ?? — Awful.  A million times awful.

Chris S. — ?? — Best performance of the night.  I wasn’t crazy about it, but it stood out in a sea of crap.

The best part of tonight’s show was that it was an hour and not 90 minutes.  Whew!

Who should go home?  It’s a tough one, considering how many bad performances there were.  But for me #1 bad was Phil and #2 bad was Sanjaya/Sundance.

If they go into the final 12 50/50, it’s not fair to the girls.

So what did you all think about this dismal night?
