American Idol: Final Three
Jordin – Wishing on a Star — (This was my 9th grade prom theme song – I never got my cassette back either!) I didn’t particularly like it, but I think she sang it well.
Blake — Roxanne — Can I tell you how much I hate this song? I don’t think I can. And I don’t think he brought anything new to the song. I’d give him an OK.
Melinda — I Believe in You and Me — This started off well, but I didn’t feel that she was comfortable singing it. She couldn’t quite hit one of the high notes — is she losing her voice or did she just not hit it. I just don’t know — it didn’t do it for me.
— Round 1 — In order: Jordin, Melinda, Blake —
Jordin — She Works Hard for the Money — I never noticed that she’s a bit awkward on stage. She sang this well, but who cares — I don’t understand giving her a song like this to sing. It’s such an 80s song — odd choice.
Blake — This Love — Ok, why does he get to do a contemporary song, and a good one, too? Jordin is stuck in the 80s and he gets this — unfair! This is pretty funny because as I was parking my car at work, I was listening to Maroon 5 and thinking too bad they can’t sing contemporary stuff like that. Ugh — where did that beatbox come from, damn it. ;( Anyway, I think this is a relatively easy song to sing and he sang it well. Blake, again I say, the 80’s called, they want their beat box back!
Melinda — Nutbush — Of all the great Tina Turner songs they could have selected for her, they pick Nutbush. I don’t get it. Yes, she did a great job singing it, but it’s a lousy song. Is this what Nigel Lithgoe grooves to at home, with his disco ball and mullet wig? Picker of songs, you’re killing me. There are so many fantastic Tina songs to pick from — how about Better Be Good to Me? How about Tina’s version of Missing You, one of my all-time favorites?
— Round 2 — In Order: Blake, Melinda, Jordin —
Jordin — I Who Have Nothing — Excellent repeat. This is such a great song. And a great rendition. Her best performance of the night. This is the kind of song that clinches the deal.
Blake — When I Get You Alone — I don’t know — it was ok, I guess, but I liked Robin Thicke’s version better.
Melinda — I’m a Woman — Another song I couldn’t care less about. Yes, she sang it well, but whatever.
— Round 3 — In Order: Jordin, Melinda, Blake —
Blake should go home, leaving Melinda and Jordin in the Final Two. My bets are still on Jordin taking this competition. I have the feeling he won’t go tonight.
omg I watched this! so I thought Jordin did amazing in the Donna Summer song! I effen HATE Blake. He clearly copies everything Justin Timberlake does on stage and I can’t even watch him. Ugh. Melinda totally dropped her lyrics in I’m a woman. No one even said anything about it. I was almost so distracted by her continuous odd facial expressions to even notice.
Warning Comment
I think it will be a guy and a girl in the final 2. But honestly, the women are so much more talented. I am pulling for Jordin.
