American Idol: Then There Were 12

SyeshaGot to Get You into My Life — Not one of my top Beatles songs, that’s for sure.  She seemed a little tentative in the beginning, but then she sang it well, with an off note here and there.  But how brightly can you shine when you choose a not so great song?  Well, I see Simon liked it — oh well.

ChikezieShe’s a Woman — Kind of a Zydeco twist to the song.  Kind of interesting.  Hmm, change of pace now.  Again, not one of my favorites but you go, Chikezie.  He tore it up.  Good for him.  But what the hell was that he was doing?  Dancing?  Ohmy…

RamieleIn My Life — Ok, one of the best Beatles songs.  She has a good voice, but she’s making me want to hear Chikezie again — he made me smile.  Does this girl know how to have fun, other than having her friends grab her boobs in her myspace pictures?  She took the beauty out of that song for me.

Jason If I Fell — Another great Beatles song.  I love this kid.  Now if I were a teeny bopper, this is the guy I’d have a crush on — not wimpy David A.  Some of the high notes were a bit light, but I still loved it.  He sang a simple song in a simple way.  Where’s my phone . . . .oh damn, where is it.  Why can I never find my phone?  ;(

CarlyCome Together — Ok, again not one of my favorites.  I’m waiting for this girl’s voice and personality to grab me, but it hasn’t happened yet.

David CookEleanor Rigby — Why are they picking my least favorite Beatles songs?  They are annoying me.  This was a letdown after last week’s Hello.  The chorus was great — the rest didn’t move me.  Big words from Simon there.

BrookeLet It Be — Ok, good choice.  I think maybe she shouldn’t have tied herself behind the piano like that, but I liked this.  She’s likable and I enjoy her voice.  She has a lot of warmth to her — I think maybe that’s what I’m missing from Carly.

David HernandezI Saw Her Standing There — Not crazy about the song and didn’t love his performance.

AmandaYou Can’t Do That — Never ever liked this song.  What’s with her hair?  A bit frenetic for me.

Michael JohnsAcross the Universe — Great song.  His best performance so far.  I don’t care what the judges thought — I loved it.  A lovely, clean rendition of this fabulous song, and better than Rufus Wainwright’s version, which I also love.

Kristy Lee8 Days a Week — A Beatles hoedown?  I don’t think so.  I did not love this, not one bit.

David A.We Can Work It Out — Forgot the words  a couple times there, bucko.  Oh, this is not good.  A classic case of overreaching.  Get it back together David, you’ve got it in there.  Don’t stop now.

Listening to the recaps made me appreciate Jason’s sweet clean version of If I Fell and Brooke’s Let It Be even more, along with Michael’s Across the Universe.  I just don’t like what Carly’s pushing.

Who should go home?  Is it one person now?  Then for me it would be, oh, Kristy Lee or David Hernandez.  She was wrong headed and he sang the wrong song.

So what did you all think?

Man, I’m sorry I missed “Idol”. I like The Beatles. I usually start watching around the top 12. I hope everything is good with you. My brother says the weather has been lovely up in Mass. :-/

Good God – Hubby and I moaned throughout the ENTIRE Kristy nightmare. What WAS she thinking?!?!?! I actually liked Amanda – there’s a Joplin/Winehouse quality to her voice that has always appealed to me. Okay – the hair – a bit much. Then again, remember some of the hairstyles of past Idols? Of the guys – I thought Michael was….boring. God, I couldn’t wait for the song to end so we could get to some action. Okay – know what? I didn’t like any of the guys – but forgetting the words is unpardonable. Dude – you’re on television. Ya gotta at least remember the words!!! I really liked Brooke. Of the guys…..

-pats a bit- how’ve you been?
