American Idol Weekly Recap
Last night? Meh.
Here we go —
Vonzell — I Know I’ll Never Love This Way Again — I love Clive Davis, but this was definitely overreaching for poor Vonzie. She was offkey so much of the song. She definitely has the range for it, but again, she needs to strengthen her voice. I do agree with Clive’s comment about her smiling while performing a song about a broken heart. It’s one of my pet peeves when performers don’t stay in the mood of the song. But she’s a bouncy, cutesie girl and I don’t know if she can control that.
Bo — Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me — Ok, I loved it. I really loved parts of it. Part of the problem could be the orchestra which is rarely helpful to these singers. Again, and I’ve said it a few times already. I’d buy his cd right now. In fact, I can’t wait until I can buy his cd. This is a high compliment, from me. I’ve yet to purchase ANY of the former AI cd’s.
Paula — Sorry, but I have to say it — what’s with the flabby flesh under her armpit? Good lord, the woman looks like me — doesn’t she know better than to flash that stuff at the camera? Ugh!
Carrie — Crying — I do love that song, and I do think she sang it well. Her voice strikes me as a bit shrill, but that could just be her vocal range. Again, she doesn’t quite "feel" when she signs. And ouch, that last note was a bit thin and slightly off.
Vonzell — Chain of Fools — I liked it. I thought it was fun and she sang it well.
Bo — Within a Dream (?) — Blew me the fvck away! I had goosebumps! Way to go Bo! Clive is loving him as much as he loved Clay last year.
Carrie – Making Love Out of Nothing at All — I will admit to my geekiness right here and now and say I really liked this song way back in the day. Oh heck, all right, so I liked Air Supply. Enough about me, back to Country Carrie, I wish she would take the whine out of her voice, but I guess that works well for country. A very unconvincing performance. Very boring. Yes, she can sing the notes, but show me something, girl — make it interesting.
Vonzell — On the Radio — Good choice for her. What’s with the posing for the camera? Again with the big grins during another broken hearted song. She sang it well though.
Bo — Satisfaction — May I say first that I have never liked this song and I know I’ll catch some hell, but I’ve never been a big Stones fan. Why didn’t Paula pick something bluesy and soulful for Bo-alicious? Ok, other than the low notes being too low for him to really sing, he’s doing a really good job. The end was the best when he injected it with some bluesy overtones.
Carrie — Man I Feel Like a Woman — Oh, I don’t like her voice in the lower register at the beginning at all. Again, it was unconvincing because she’s very much a little girl. But vocally she sang it well it just lacked…she’s all over lackluster to me. *shrug*
My bet for tonight? Bo and Carrie left standing.
ya know…I really just don’t like Paula. I love to watch the tryouts then I lose interest. it’s funny to watch ppl who sound worse than I do (as if that’s really pssible…) sing on national tv… you need to take a pic of your dogs and post them! i wanna see!!!

Bo is damn sexy and I’d buy his cd. I considered buying Kelly C’s cd, but just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Again, THANK YOU for this update. I watched America’s Top Model last night and didn’t watch AI. You da best. 😛
