Dark Day in Massachusetts
It’s a dark day indeed in Massachusetts when its legislators rule on our rights not to vote on an important matter like the gay marriage ban. A dark day indeed.
When we live in a suppossed DEMOCRATIC society and REPRESENTATIVES that ignore the people’s will (i.e. over 170,000+ signatures) and RADICAL judges who jam unlawful dictate down the people of the Commonwealth’s throat you have to question why some of us are upset?
Here’s a question; Why are the homosexual community so desperate for the "M"-word? Why can’t civil unions be the order of the day especially when they carry all the perks and benefits of marriage… with civil unions just not named after the "M"-word.
Why can’t it come to the ballot for a vote, then whatever side of the issue falls short they have no one to blame but themselves for NOT getting out the VOTE!
It’s based on DEMOCRATIC principle and has nothing to do with false accusations of rights violations, intolerance, bigotry or "homophobia". A principle this country was forged and based upon that a handful of spineless elected "what’s-in-it-for-me" officials seem to have grossly ignored is what it’s all about.
If we’re not careful, what we love about the GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH soon won’t be.
Our only recourse now is to vote against those legislators who took away our rights. But will we remember when that time comes? I hope so.
P.S. Don’t you even dare leave me a note calling me a homophobe or saying I don’t understand. I understand, I’m anything but a homophobe! My best friend in the world is a gay man and even he is pissed off this morning. My other two great friends here are also gay and I worked at a marked gay friendly restaurant. I am not a homophobe.
I’m mad because they took away my right to vote. Plain and simple.
I don’t get this either. Esp since the civil union does have you qualify for benefits and health care, etc. of your spouse. the thing that kills me is that the people i know who are all up in arms about the word marriage verses civil unions are the committment phobe ones that refuse to marry anyway. so what is the problem? we should just vote on it and be done with it. enough chit chat. wehave more important things the statehouse needs to focus on.

I’m about to become apolitical again. Seems that votes don’t really matter all that much, anyhow. Signed: Support our Troops, Bring them home alive!
