That’s Just Ridiculous Fatty! *EDIT*
Okay. I just saw the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever witnessed. Well, okay, that’s a stretch…it’s not the MOST ridiculous thing I’ve ever witnessed, but it’s pretty ridiculous nonetheless. (Nonetheless…I always liked that word, seems and sounds so important when it really isn’t.)
I was standing outside smoking my afternoon prelunch cancer stick when a morbidly obese lady came rolling by in one of those motorized chairs. Before you start leaving me hate notes about this let me finish. I know she can walk because she got her gigantic, blubbery butt out of the chair and started pushing it. I guess it ran out of batteries. So there she is, this giant lady pushing and heaving this chair across my parking lot. Complaining loudly that she hates to walk and that’s why "she got the fucking chair to begin with".
Uhm…yeah, honey, if you’re so fat you cannot walk easily then you have an issue. And getting a motorized chair to cart your giant ass around is not helping that issue. Oh my. I wanted to yell that out to her, but I didn’t. Because I do have some class ya know. Besides I’m not exactly Slim Picken’s myself.
The landlord showed us 3 apartments.
The first one was in the old late 1800’s victorian. Second floor, accessed by outside stairs. The "terrace" turned out to be nothing but a small spot at the top of the stairs. The bathroom and kitchen in this apartment is HUGE. He’s turning the sedcond giant bathroom into a 1/2 bath and making a third bedroom. Rent is $1400.00 a month, all utlities included except phone and cable. Interesting tidbit. I control the heat for the whole building in this place. *LOL* If I moved in there my poor neighbors would hate me in the winter. I usually don’t turn my heat above 65*.
Second apartment was the basement apartment in the building across the street. Place is totally demolished and not even done yet. Will be a 2 bedroom 1 & 1/2 bath when finished. Not too happy with the idea of living in a basement. Kinda creeps me out. But it was a large space and I would be rid of the neverending stairs. Rental price $1250.00, all utilities included except cable and phone.
OMG the 3rd apartment!!! Also in the white building. I’m in love.
LOVE I TELL YOU. It’s one street over from where I live now. 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths. GIANT eat in kitchen. But that’s not the part I am in love with. This apartment has almost a 360° view of the ocean. You can see all the way into Nahant Beach and Lynn Beach. In addition there’s an awesome unobstructed view of Boston’s skyline. AND, ready, AND from the living or dining room there are a set of french doors leading out onto a small sun room that’s completely windowed!! That’s ALL I needed to see. It was love at first sight, even if it needs some work. Rent is $1,400.00 and you pay your own utlities, heat and hot water. Kitchen needs to be redone and he didn’t plan on doing it before we moved in. He said, "You can make any improvement you want if you consult me." In other words, AS IS, you want it, you pay for it. The sink in the kitchen is a total mess. Totally stained. OH BUT THE VIEW and THAT SUN PORCH!!! Interestingly enough he plans in 3 years or so to sell the places as condos and said he’d give us the first option of buying it.
Now…my Pros and Cons of moving:
PROS:
Getting rid of bi-polar landlady.
No more endless stairs to climb every time I want to come or go.
No more listening to OCD Ted forever vacuuming and trying to fight him to get some laundry done.
THAT VIEW!
THAT PORCH!
The wood floors!
The giant kitchen with more than 3 storage cabinets.
Option to buy later without having to move (again).
No more heartbreak over witnessing the lack of attention Lucky gets and no more incessant bass filled LOUD baring under my windows.
No more having to worry about strangers traipsing in my yard unannounced, or potential perverts on my roof watching me shower.
No more worries about if there’s ever a fire in the front of the house how I am going to get me and the pets out alive.
CONS:
MOVING. I frikken HATE moving.
Costs: Estimate for movers falls between $95.00 an hour to $165.00 an hour!
Having 4 families in the same house in one, and 6 in the other. Will probably have the same laundry issues I am having now.
NO yard at either place.
No guaranteed off street parking. All available parking spots in front of these places are street parking and "first come first served." Not good in the winter during snow emergencies.
The sink in that kitchen was terrible!!!
What if we don’t qualify in a couple of years to get financing to buy the apartment. Then we have to move again. 🙁
Trying to come up with the money down for the apartment ($2,800.00) and the movers ($570.00 approx. if I use my lowest bidder.)
Losing the convenience of Ted living downstairs to pet sit.
I have until tomorrow to give him a final answer. Do the pros outweight the cons?
*EDIT*
Okay, so I am probably going to hell for this, or at the very least this will spawn some nasty notes. I’ve named the lady in the first part of this entry. Forever more she will be known to me as: Ms. Fatty Rolls A Lot.
*rolls on the floor laughing at self*
1st part. I love how people are so fat they don’t want to walk or stand. they mumble at me bc i refuse to give up my seat on the bus for people unless they are carrying an infant or if they are disabled or old. Not if they are fat. ain’t my problem if you are fat. if you have knee problems well you need to not be fat. that’s my 2 cents. bah!
Warning Comment
I bet the kids would like a yard. :/

i really can’t help you. Guarenteed parking is a big perk for winter. wood floors are nice. if you have a car and NEED laundry you can always drive to the laundromat. and there is no guarantee that your new landlord won’t be a prick. but the 3rd apartment sounds gorgeous…
Warning Comment
lol @ edit. oh and you shouldn’t smoke.
Warning Comment
That is too funny about the lady pushing her “ride”.lmao. Pro: It’s just a street over. You can still have the same sitter.

re: lmfao ask me that question in a few months, and I bet I tell you hell yes, because I don’t want to walk my moo moo ass everywhere! ;oD
Warning Comment
the fat lady thing was funny… although sad too….Hey nothing beats an ocean view!!! Seriously!! we have one and god it’s just so wonderful to sit out there and stare at it!!!
Warning Comment
Oh, I think you SHOULD move! The place sounds great! You just can’t beat a view like that. GO FOR IT! (you can get a brand new kitchen sink at Home Depot for like $50, you could probably even take it off the rent)
Warning Comment
LOL…I hate people like that!! Know what too? I hate the 500 lb ones that walk by ya and tell ya to quit smoking!! Once someone told me that and I told her as soon as she STOPPED EATING…I would quit smoking…. Dumb beeeeearch…
