5-24: double rainbow
I moved my desk a while back, from the far right side of the apartment into more or less the center of my studio apartment and now, to my left I have a view out the window of glass that is the outside wall in the sleeping area of the apartment. I was sitting here yesterday, reading something or other online and looked to the left and saw a glorious rainbow, two of them in fact, and nearby too.
Here’s the "normal" view:

Looking south easterly towards Milwaukie, with the foothills of the Cascades in the far distance, the eastern border of the Willamette Valley..

Yesterday I saw this:

"Wow!" I thought, and went out on the balcony with a camera.
*
*
*
"Whoa! There really are 2 rainbows!"

They are mirror images of each other.

I thought that maybe I should run to the car and drive real fast over there – there’s supposed to be a pot of gold under that rainbow, and boy, I sure could use me some gold!

Well.
The rainbow moved as I watched it and of course, it would move away as I drove to it and would disappear as I drove "under" it, and that pot of gold would move with it too, so I just contented myself with some pictures of this beautiful diffraction of the sunlight passing through the rain over that way.

That white building on the left, the farthest one back, is a twin of my apartment building, a Clackamas County Housing unit, and the rainbow seems to point down into an industrial area, right onto, maybe, OR 99 (formerly US 99), McLoughlin Blvd.

I live near the borders of the two counties, Clackamas and Multnomah. Both are names of Indian tribes that used to live in the area.

I kept standing on the balcony, using different settings on my digicam:

I have lived in this apartment longer than anywhere else in my life, and why move?
Even if I could move, where would I find a view like this?
One of the best things to come out of that car wreck in 98 is this right here: the view from my balcony.

I saw a gorgeous double rainbow once. It was back in the summer of 1999. My mom and I were driving through Colorado. Unfortunately, the only camera I had at the time was one of those disposable 35mm ones. So, my photos didn’t turn out near as nice as yours did. 🙂

Your photos are breathtaking. A double rainbow. I’m glad you shared. I’ve only seen a double in my life once. Ryn: Medicine side effects. Sometimes you have to wonder if they’re worth it but if it helps to keep you on track then it’s worth it. Just be mindful of your health. I’m sure that you are not rude. You do not come across as being rude at all which I have to say is refreshing.

That’s a great view you have. Beautiful rainbows. Nothing can go wrong when the rainbows look like that.
