Check THIS out.

I posted pictures of my friend’s Volkswagen bug here a couple of days ago – everyone said nice things about it, and it really is a nice car.  Saturday, we drove to PIR, the race track by the river, thinking that there was a Volkswagen meet up there, and that maybe my friend would find a buyer.

We were misinfomed – there was no meet going on at the track.  Yesterday, I wrote and posted an ad for my friend on Samba.com, a site specifically for VW’s:

Original condition 1964 Type 1 w/sunroof   Price: $8500

Original condition Type 1 bug with factory sunroof. 59,5xx miles, sitting on new BF Goodrich Silvertown 165R15 tires. This was a California car. The story heard when bought was that this car was a movie prop car that sat inside all of it’s life. It is unmolested, totally original, with a 6 volt system (new battery). Original Sapphire radio. Very clean interior – redone? or stored inside. Original paint of a green-gray color (see pictures). Strong, good compression engine. Firm clutch and transmission. NO rust or car cancer of any kind. Very little needed to become a showroom condition car – this is THE Bug you are looking for.

I posted that ad yesterday at 10:38 am.  Yesterday morning.  The car sold tonight.  For the asked for price of $8,500.  The buyer is flying up from Long Beach, California and shipping the car home tomorrow.  This is very ironic, because the word we got when my friend bought the car was that it came from San Diego, California, not even a hundred miles south of it’s new home in Long Beach.

I just deactivated the ad – if things don’t work out for some reason, I can reactivate it easily.  In deactivating it, I see it has been looked at 1,019 times, and was "followed" by 13 people.  Today, at the request of an interested person, (I used my email address because A is like, Techno-dumb, and I was helping him out because he has no email address and no computer), I went to A’s house and took more pictures of the car and emailed the man the pictures tonight.

Too late dude.

The car is sold, or will sell, in small part because of my words and pictures, and I HAVE to tell you about it because…

cue the music…

"You’re so vain".

L.O.L !!!

I’m sure that A is grateful for your help.

That’s great!

The car sold for $8,500? Astonishing. I remember when my town in the seventies was full of Volkswagens, and the richest guy in town was the Volkswagen mechanic.
