Christmas road trip plus

Christmas was lookin’ kinda… doesn’t seem to fit… kinda dead.  Anyway, I had no plans for Saturday.  There is no Christmas in this apartment.  No tree (I never buy christmas trees.  Well, I did once, in 1984, for my brother, but I’ve never bought a tree for myself).  (20 bucks up the street at the Boy Scouts lot)

I’ve gotten only three cards this year… but I haven’t sent out any myself.  I didn’t have any extra money.

I don’t suppose this will be a "bad" Christmas… but it is looking to be sorta flat.

Well, I am doing something I’ve never done for Christmas this year.

I’m going to prison.

Ok, sorry about that – I couldn’t resist.

Me an’ my friend A are going to Aumsville to see his kid, who is in a prison down there.

Last week, a rare tornado hit downtown Aumsville, but that’s a few miles from the kid’s prison, and he’s alright.

I’ve never been to a prison on Christmas day before.  A says that it has to be "just another day" for the inmates – he went to prison in Texas, so he knows a bit more about it than I do.  He asked me yesterday if I could drive him down to see his son for Christmas Day.  I don’t have no plans myself – it’s "just another day" for me too, so what the hell.  Traffic will be light – we’re leaving here at 6:30 am.

For some reason, everytime I try to reply to a note, the server goes down and gives me an "Unable to display this page" and the note goes "pooof".

The kid is in prison because he and another idiot thought it would be a thrill to rob a couple of banks.  The story changes as time goes by, but someone talked too much to someone who turned them or him in and it’s been a partial fucntion of mine to drive my friend to the hearings and the sentencing, and 3 or 4 visits to various prisons as the kids gets transferred here and there.  The drive down to Lane County Courthouse, where the hearings and sentencing were was about 2 hours each way, but Aumsville is about 50 minutes from Oregon city, where A lives now.

The Feds declared the area where he was living a Flood Zone and he had to move out.  He got a check for his troubles, but he doesn’t have a driver’s license right now (another story), so I’ve been his chauffer for going on a couple of years now.  I like to drive, and I have a wonderful car, and I love it and I will sooo cry if I have to give it up, getting fired and denied on unemployment and

well.  In deep now.  Got a roof over my head and food on the table and more if/when I want it, so I fucking BCW.  It could be worse.

I don’t particularly want to find out if that’s true myself, but thinking that gets me by, and besides, 12 and a half years ago, I was in a coma and no one knew how that would turn out either.  I had to re-learn so much to be where I am now, and this, apparently, is part of the learning process.

A’s daughter and her family are coming to stay over for the Christmas holiday, so he’ll be ready to get out for awhile – her three kids are WILD.  (personally, I might go say hello, but wild kids?  And I can’t hit ’em?  I mean, umm, discipline the little hellions).

LOL.  They are pretty wild – the parents are raising them "naturally" and "home schooling" them.

Yeah, well, I could write about that and what I think, but we’ll save that for another day.

Some people do home schooling with dedication and expertise and they have wonderful, smart, intelligent kids who get along with otheres very well.  Some home schoolers are not like that at all.  That is the case here.  I could write about that, but I won’t here, now.

I don’t know how much longer I’ll be keeping the car – or, I don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep it, so I’m taking the opportunity to drive my black beauty while I can.

Onwards.  Things will work out some way or another and I will adapt to the new situation.

I might pray about it too.

(yeah, I will)

Definitely go for your friend’s son and for yourself…a win-win situation!

I home schooled the kids for 3 years :). Sorry Christmas is looking not so great but hey just having your health is great really!

Just between you me and a fence post…I think raising kids that way and allowing them to run wild like that is what got us with a world full of half assed no account pieces of shit for adults filling the world. A smack up side the head on a regular basis to keep em in line never hurt no one! I turned out just fine thanks.

We’ll be spending Christmas morning at home…wave at us from Aumsville. I hope we’re not up THAT early, but knowing my 8 year old, that’ll be the ONE morning she wants to get up before the dawn!

I’ve never been to a prison and my state is full of them and I’ve never known anyone who has. You’re the first. Lately, every time I’ve gone to the store for anything, the clerk(s) says, “Merry Christmas” and I say, “I don’t do Christmas” and I’m shocked at their shock. I guess I’ve been semi-reclusive too long.

Have a safe trip!

Just a personal opinion here. I believe that criminals who use guns in crimes (whether they shoot them or not) should go away for a long time. So many times murders are committed and the criminals cry and claim, “I didn’t mean to hurt anyone, I didn’t mean to kill anyone”.–i.e. gun went off accidentally. So, we should give those that USE guns in crimes a long time in jail. This way, no more accidental murders will be committed inthe course of a crime. In my city, three of us have been on the wrong end of a gun crime. And we thank God that we lived. The criminals did not manage to kill us. Another friend of mine, minding her own business, in her own home, was murdered by some meatballs , who of course, claimed that they didn’t mean to kill her during the robbery. IF someone uses a crime, points a gun at someone, heck they DO mean to murder, let’s not keep giving them excuses. Guns go OFF, people die. IF your friend’s son used a gun in that bank robbery, I do hope that he is in jail for a long time, at least this time.

2. Our government is way too lenient with people who bring guns to crimes (and other weapons).
