Friday evening

It was very nice Friday after work – the kind of weather I live here for.

I came home with nothing really I needed to do and a newspaper to finish reading.  I used to get a paper every day, because I delivered them, you know.  I quit doing the dailies though and went for a stretch of not reading the paper much.  I mean, buy one?

Yeah, right.

It turns out my new mid-day run takes me to the district Charter School, where I pick up one to five kindergarteners to take home.  (in an 84 passenger bus) I always get there with plenty of time to go inside and use the facilities, and on my way out, to grab one of the day’s newspapers that sit in a stack on the hall table.  Back when I did the dailies, I used to drop a couple hundred at Milwaukie high.  They were the SOS papers – Save Our Schools, or something.  I always grab one at the Charter School – passes the time at the high school I hit next after dropping off kindygarteners, where I’ve got time to read the Op/Ed pages before I run those polite high schoolers to the Skills Center before lunch/my afternoon nap.

Did my mid-day and caught a nap in my van, then ran my afternoon routes.  The elementary kids were wild, as I expected – nice Friday afternoon, no school for days – yeah.  Kid’s day fer sure.

Got my high schoolers taken care of and came home to see my wonderful balcony waiting for me.  Here’s the view from my chair out there:

There’s a lot more room since I hung the bike over the balcony.  Wonder why I didn’t do that before?

Here’s looking from my chair out to the southwest.  Those purple trees are plums. you know.  They add some color, for sure.

Standing up and looking down here.

The balcony was getting good sun, so I did a little "work" on my tan.  I am on the top floor of the tallest building around, so, like, no need to pay a tanning salon sort of place when I’ve got my own mostly private balcony, eh?

You wanna avoid those tan lines, ya know.

One more peek from my chair to the west, southwest:

Yeah, Friday was a great day.

Too bad Saturday wasn’t – see the next post for a different sort of afternoon.

What beautiful weather…my favourite…clear, crisp, warm but not suffocating. Nice photos, by the way. Do you ride a bike much?
