After 8 years my computer had a hardware failure and stopped working. I have not had ‘net access for a couple of weeks.

My girlfriend loaned me the laptop I’m using right now, and the old desktop gets a new motherboard, processor and memory and a new life.  I jacked up that hood ornament and am gonna drive a new one under it.

It has been decades since I could say that with any truth, but this is the real deal.  I have had and have high standards; you’ve read some things about my former wife, K*, so you know those high standards have well suited me, that I’ve never written about relationship troubles.  Now, of course ya gotta have "a relationship" to say anything about, and I have not had any sort of "romantic" relationship since 1995, when we got divorced.

However, they say it comes along when you give up looking, and there may be something to that; I turned 51 and thought, well shit, it really is over.  That time of life, I thought, had passed.  I wasn’t all that happy, but what are ya gonna do?  

Sigh, and wear that resignation and go onwards, however long it lasts.

I have met a woman who is, as I put it, reading the same page of the same book.  I think people are like three-dimensional puzzle pieces, and that as we go through life, some pieces fit, kind of, and some not at all, and sometimes you find one that fits in all dimensions so well that there is no question of whether or not you guys fit, that you are meant to be together.

All things in their own time.  Things happen when they are meant to and not before.  If you force a fit, it is still not "right" and will not work.

It is time.  These pieces fit without force, like they were made for each other.  It took a looong time to get here, but it feels so right that there is no question of "what if" or of second-questioning myself.  No second-guessing.

These parts fit perfectly, and if not perfectly (such  thing may be possible…) well, then well enough – more than well enough, in fact, that I am moving in, what? 6 days?

Back to California, the land of my birth, a place I have not lived in since 1981, when I was 19.

NOT to Southern California, no.  I am staying in The Great Northwest, within 2 dozen miles of Oregon, in Northern California.

In The Redwoods, specifically, where there are pictures of Great Beauty to take and forests to explore.

Where she lives.

I’ve been here 26 years.  The time and the reason for moving on are here, now.  I won’t be living 334 miles from my love; I’ll be a block away, and THERE.

Where I have to be.  There’s some more to it, but it boils down to I HAVE to be there.

She is THE ONE for this time of my life.  

I am hers.

Simple, really.  We are meant to be together, partners in life’s adventure.

She’s on her way back south tomorrow, and the computer will be up tomorrow night, it looks like, and I will follow when my week’s work, my month’s work in the Group Home in Fairview is done on Friday.

2014 is going to be A GREAT YEAR.
