Riley Cat

I’ve known Riley Cat for over 16 years now. He is my biker friend’s cat, a grey tabby who has always purred when he sees or hears me.

Ahh.

Riley has reached the end of a long life – he’s 17 at least, very old for an indoor/outdoor cat. He is weak and thin and almost blind in the last day or two and isn’t eating. He’s not using the box any more, and both of us – it’s real fucking sad – know he’s on his way out. He has been for awhile, but he’s topped that hill and is on his way down fast. A wants to take him to his vets and have him eased out.

I had to do this in January for my cat – and I’ve been Riley’s "uncle" most all of his life.

I need to go give him his last ride. He is the cat I’ve known from the early days of my return from Japan in 96. Riley has outlived two of my cats – Hope Cat and Blacky Cat.

Oh how sad.

🙁 that sucks hun

OMG I am sooo sorry. I cry for you all…us all…

I dread the day this happens with our Maj. She almost 19 by my calculations. It’s so hard saying goodbye to these furever companions.

my sister has a cat that is really old and she is about to die as well. I am beggin her to take her to the vet and ease her suffering… it is sooo hard to let them go but you just have to let them go, it is what is best.

Our pets are with us for such a short time….even if it is for 17 years. There’s never a good time for them to leave us. It is our duty to help them cross over that bridge and do it in the best way possible. Taking him on his last ride and being with him is only fair. I admire you for being with him on his last journey.

That’s terrible. Losing a pet, even if he or she is technically not yours is never easy. I’m sorry. 🙁
