the day before Christmas

 Well, I suppose it’s not "just another Saturday", since it’s December 24, the Day Before Christmas.

It is, though, "just another Saturday" for us – the cat and me.  I used to live in Japan – about six years in total, and the day before Christmas really is, there, "just another day".  December 25 IS just another day there – I remember working many Christmases.  Christmas in Japan is mainly an excuse to play music and decorate windows in shops and stores.  It all disappears Christmas Day, because the REAL holiday is New Years in Japan.

Saturday.  No Noon News on today.  Maybe I can catch some online.  I’ve got a couple of shows online to see – "Grimm", filmed here in Portland, and "Hawaii Five O".  Both are online at Hulu and NBC.com

Never did buy that flat-screen TV – most of them plug into the computer too.  I could conceivably "build" a Home Entertainment system with my computer and a good monitor.  I DO have a flat-screen monitor; I bought it five years ago at this time of year, after I began the school bus driving job in 06.  It worked until last year, when the warranty expired, and then it stopped working.  Maybe it was the video card I had in the computer then.  I replaced that this summer, but I haven’t gotten around to plugging in the flat-screen to see if it works.  I’ve got two monitors hooked up to the computer anyway –  17" and a 15" CRT monitors.

When the money was flowing in from Charter Bus driving, I thought about buying myself a flat-screen TV… but decided to wait until the end of the year, and lost my job at the begginning of December.  My old TV works fine anyway.  It just doesn’t have a digital tuner.  I’d have to buy one or use cable to watch TV, so, I use cable TV, the least expensive programming I can.  Since I use cable internet too, it works out… but since I can watch TV online too, I wonder if I couldn’t cut costs any more by dropping cable TV.

Hmm.  TV’s look to be even cheaper next week, and since Unemployment will be owing me weeks of Unemployment… I suppose I could look into it.  If it pays.  There’s still some questions about that.  Made the car payment on Thursday anyway – I own it for another month.

Hmm.  More coffee please.
