Uh huh

It seems it’s not an anti-virus or the lack thereof that is the problem.  I use Windows XP Home, and had it tweaked just right when it failed.  I have since reformatted the hard drivc a couple of times and I am SOOO glad I bought that USB hard drive last year and pretty regularly backed up my pics on that – with what’s on the three cards I have for the camera and the remote hard drive, I don’t think I lost too many.  Looks like it may be the fully updated MS Internet Explorer.  Or a not so suble hint that my Sempron processor is over matched – I can over-clock that and see what happens.

Not sure what my machine’s issues are, but it’s pretty goldurn frustrating.  The wave of bills approaching due precludes any pro ($) help for now.

It’s very clear to me how much of my life is wrapped up with going online – not being able to was the only fly in yesterday’s soup – beautiful, in the 80’s, not tooo hot, and National Night Out too.  The building had a bbq for the neighborhood and a live trio in the back garden – nice jazz – and looking around at everything "right" in my world diminished the catastophic way I was feeling after fucking around with the machine all day.

Life is wrapped up with getting online though – I pay most bills online and write some emails and such, and the computer being less than reliable is very frustrating.

I’m gonna give it a rest and watch a movie or two – "The Departed" is in line; it’s a good story.

Better than my computer’s story right now, maybe.

I have heard of a LOT of people having their computers messed up with IE8. If I were you, I’d stick with IE7 and the problem(s) might disappear. My bro-in-law downloaded IE8 onto his computer and ended up not being able to get on-line at all–seems that program is messing with a lot of computers.

I hope you get a stroke of genius soon.
