Happy Birthday Nathaneal! AND You won’t believe…
Happy 13th Birthday to my beautiful, sweet, kind grandson Nathaneal! He, like his grandmother, mother, aunt, siblings, and cousin, is my best friend! We latched on to each other the first day we met. It was really awesome, and the feeling has never changed. He told me not long ago that he "knew [I was] different" the day we met. I was curious, so I asked what he meant. He said, "I stepped on your foot, and when I said I was sorry, you just said, ‘It’s okay.’" How totally cool is it that I made such an impression on him with two little words like that?! Of course, he made his impression on me by coming up the stairs, looking at Laurie, and saying, "I know who you are! You’re my grandmother!" It was the most incredible day of my life!!!!!
Now…the "You won’t believe" part.
After a day of battling…yelling, begging, threatening, name-calling, and a lot of repeats of those, Laurie and Stacy made a kind of truce, PLUS Laurie acknowledged to all of us that she has a problem abusing drugs. Now this is important because it’s been ONLY to me, previously that she’d admit the problem. This time, she told two trusted friends, too.
Not only that, but, at the suggestion of Laurie’s aid, Barbara, I put cinder blocks under Laurie’s couch, to prop it up and make it higher, so she could get up by herself….I have NO IDEA why this never occurred to me!!!!…..and it worked like a charm! I am soooooo proud of her, because she did so many things for herself yesterday, and she was only mildly medicated. It’s like she totally became a new person, and she was proud of herself, which made HER happy, and that’s one thing I really want, too…for the love of my life to be happy! She said she felt proud of herself, and I told her she SHOULD and that I was very proud of her, too. I told her several times, including when we went to bed. The last thing I said to her, besides "I love you, Babe" was that she did really well and I was very proud of her.
It was totally like a whole different life yesterday, and I hope like hell it stays that way! It’s like her sense of accomplishment totally changed her for the better, and what a wonderful change, PLUS we all got along so much better, too!
Ask and you shall receive!
Love to everyone,
Hermy
