First Entry for the Day

Italian Phrase of the Day: {These come from An Italian Phrase a Day desk calendar}  Email una copia del suo curriculum al mio zio. Email a copy of your resumè to my uncle.

My comment on this:Sembravano strano a mio sentire un "curriculum" chiavano un "resumè" che arrivano agli Stati Uniti dal Inghilterra sul millenovecentisessantatrè. It seemed strange to me to hear a "curriculum" called a "resumè" when I came to the United States from England in 1963.

Today the only Italian I have to do is to review for the test on the raccontino tomorrw. This means knowing the verb forms and the vocabulary la Prof gave us during the construction of the raccontino. This is about five or six verbs and about fifteen words.

So, for today:

  • study for test–write out the words five times
  • make yogurt. {The milk has already been boiled and I am waiting for it to go down to room temperature. Then I will add the good little bacteria, pour the mixture into the pots and put them in the machine to gently warm for 8 hours. Next, the pots will go into the refrigerator overnight and be ready to tuck into tomorrow. Last night Fred told me he had eaten the last one with maple syrup! }
  • study for test –ask Fred to call out the words and see if I can remember what they are by saying them and writing them down.
  • I am also thinking quite seriously about making scones. So far, I have got out the recipe and checked to be sure we have all the ingredients. We do.
  • go for a walk
  • study for test–rewrite five times whichever words I didn’t know.

The quotation below will be changed tomorrow. The ones I have chosen for February are to motivate me to take a risk….

QUOTATION FOR THIS MONTH: If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment. — Marcus Aurelius

Until later….

Everytime you talk about making yogurt, I remember back in the 70’s when I had a yogurt machine and the results were just wonderful. I might just have to get another one…the maple syrup would do it for me! Yum!

I have never made scones. I’m going to look up scone recipes! Here’s wishing you a lovely day, and good luck on your test tomorrow! hugs, Weesprite

We’re stopping by the storage room this evening. I think my yogurt maker will be coming back with me.

Good luck on the test.

I love scones. I’ve been baking like mad lately. I like scones with yellow raisins or with currants. Not those silly big raisins.

You’re still going to participate in the photo thing, right? I really want you to!

Five times. Seems to be a magic number for you. I should probably do that, but repitition drives me nuts. And puts me to sleep. Hmm… Wonder how I could incorporate your fine example into my learning routine.

Good luck on your test tomorrow. I’m sure you will do just fine! Hugs, M

I find that repetition helps get info into my brain easier. People think I’m odd at school because I will type up my handwritten lecture notes. The act of typing the notes helps me remember the information much more easily. Weird, huh?

May you ace that test.

I didn’t realise you were born in England!!! I was born in Ireland…

Good luck on the test! I wish I could taste your yogurt!

Of those things on the list….I’d go out for Chinese.
