Hi!

Italian Phrase of the Day: When I looked at my calendar this morning, I saw it still said February 2 so apparently I forgot to write yesterday So, yesterday’s phrase: Brindo a ciò! I’ll Drink to that! And today: Andremo alle montagne questa fine settimana. We’re going to the mountains this weekend.

Yesterday I went to see Dr Babyface {as I have decided to call him.}  When the nurse was taking my temp and asking me if I was in pain, she also asked me if I would fill out an evaluation after I had seen him. I asked could I say he doesn’t seem old enough to be a doctor. She laughed and said I certainly could! But in the end, I didn’t because, after all, he can’t help his looks.

I went there with the pain in my hip which is getting worse. And his suggestion? To pass me on to an orthopedic doctor! I still don’t like Dr. Babyface and not because he is passing me on to someone else. There is something, well, I want to say "phony" about him but I just can’t put my finger on it. And I am a bit disconcerted that I was asked to fill out an evaluation. {This was not a generic evaluation but one with his name on it.} I have been seeing different residents for many years and have never been asked to fill out one of these things before. Of course, this may be a new hospital policy or perhaps they have been doing this all along and I have just missed the evaluation periods. The evaluation was for patient-doctor interaction.

Now I think about it, one of the questions was "Does he seem interested in you?" And that one I had to mark him low on because the more I think about it, the more I realised that he wasn’t actually interested in me, but he was interested in my collection of symptoms. As an example, I asked him if I could have my prescriptions written for two months at a time because in the fall, I was going to be out of the country. He answered my question but never asked where I was going. If it had been Dr EyeCandy, he would have immediately asked where I was going and why! And the resident I was seeing before would also have asked and told me to come in for a kidney pee-in-the-cup test before I left because his specialty was going to be kidneys and he was interested the fact that I am operating normally on one! Well, I am getting an appointment with an orthopedic specialist some time in the near future out of this visit.

On the going to Italy project, I am going in early September and I am going to Lucca which is in Tuscany. I haven’t actually sent in the money yet but I will do this soon. More details as this saga progresses.
This morning I went up to the grocery store before Fred got up for a few bits and piece we need. I was going for baking powder and flour {scones}, milk {yogurt} and windshield wiper fluid. I got all of this and a few other things {of course} and when I got home, I tried to open the front of my car to put the fluid in, and it won’t open! I think the little latch in front is frozen shut! Very annoying and I don’t quite know what I can do about it!

Ok, time to do some homework.

QUOTATIONS FOR THIS MONTH: Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Can you get an extension cord and hair dryer out to the car and defrost your latch?

I hope you get your latch open soon. I’m getting excited for you already since you’ve set a date and place for your language immersion! This is going to be so exciting for you…a new adventure!

i’ve got to ask you a question… will you be able to be online while you are in italy? or will we have to do without your entries for 6 weeks or so? i’m so glad you decided to go. i’m sure you will enjoy yourself to no end and come back speaking very good italian! what an adventure you’re going to have!!!! take care,

I wonder how new of a doctor Dr. Babyface is. I was a little overwhelmed at first, doing massages, because I had to remember every little detail of what to do and what NOT to do. After I settled down and it became second nature, THEN I was able to focus more on the client and ask more personal questions. I discovered that the more you know about a person, the better you are able to help….

…I just hope he figures this out soon or he won’t have any patients left.

YAY!!! I’m so glad that you have definately decided the when and where to go! I’m sure you will have a fantastic time and will come home speaking and understanding Italian all that much better for it! Hugs, M

Maybe after you run the car a little bit, it will heat up enough to thaw the latch? I don’t like the sounds of that Dr. that passed you along – I hope you don’t have to see him again!!! {{{HUGS}}},

I think The Kid is right about running your car. I know there’s a lock de-icer that you can get in any auto store. And yes! Will you be able to post entries when you’re in Italy?

ryn~ Uninhibited, silly! You’re already on there, aren’t you?

If you’re not on the favs then knock over there and I’ll let you in.

I don’t like Dr. Babyface either, just from what you have said about him so far. Apparently at his college, the social graces were not taught! hugs, Weesprite

I say kick the good ole’ Doc in the chins…for good measure and all 🙂

It was a toss up for me between scones and soda bread today. Soda bread won.

*huggs* and I hate Dr’s like that.

Your trip isn’t that far off 🙂 It sounds exciting especially since you will be able to mingle and chat with the locals.

I’m so envious of you going to Italy – what an adventure! Scary stuff though as well (well to me it is!).

You know, I don’t think my personal doctor cares much about *me* either. Funny thing is, I chose a PA since I’ve usually had more luck with nurse practitioners, and this PA is no more interested than most of the MDs I’ve visited. I’ve been thinking its time to go on another doctor hunt. Tuscany will be beautiful! It’s on my list of places to visit in this lifetime 🙂

There is such a shortage of doctors in Alberta, they don’t care if they are rude to you. It is nice that you can give some feed back and hopefully, he will grow in his social development. Intellectuals can be morons.:) I hope your hip doesn’t hinder your travel plans.

P.S. We have special spray in Alberta for frozen latches. We get it at Canadian Tire. I am guessing they wouldn’t have that in America. 🙁

ryn: thanks!! I will tell Joe about Avast and tell him a good friend recommends it. Here’s wishing you and Fred a lovely day! hugs, Weesprite

RYN: do you mean the books? Are you like me – I love looking at other people’s books – you can tell quite a lot about someone looking at their books although those ones are quite a motley lot now that I look at them closely! When I was looking for stuff to sell on ebay I found it very interesting to find out which books I absolutely could not part with and which ones I was okay with selling – didn’t turn out the way I expected!

I think that it is wonderful that you’re getting things arranged for Italy. And I’m glad you noted your discomfort around the doctor, a small, but important thing.

February 4, 2007

Maybe the Dr. has had complaints about his behavior and they want to see if anyone else would feel this way without coming right out and saying it. I would think if he is a resident they need alot of information about him. Some Dr. are just not people persons and are very cold. Maybe he is one of them. Italy sounds wonderful. I think sending you to a specialist is a very good idea.

February 4, 2007

I wouldn’t look at it as shoving you off but more of sending you to someone who really knows what they are talking about. I would wait until after the appt. to send money for Italy. Just in case you need hip replacement or something. It does happen to us.
