The Week That Was
Oh, the week that was. What happened to me this week? As I would typically say – not much, which is my normal. My life is pretty mundane.
I celebrated a birthday this week and so with that, I’m another year older. I don’t feel any different, but I figure that can always change. As it stands, I feel good and my health is stable. Could always be worse, I know. Various people checked in and wished me a Happy Birthday. All their efforts were greatly appreciated, though I have never been the type to hype up my birthday, not even as a child. Even into adulthood, I don’t make a big deal about it. Well, I won’t have to bother with that stuff again until next February.
I finally changed the internal SSD in my Steam Deck from what the stock one that came with the console to one that is now 2TB in size. I probably could’ve done this back in November, but I allowed the laziness to settle in and it took me a lot longer than it probably should have. I barely use my Steam Deck anyway, but maybe with the increase in memory, that will change. I also upgraded the internal memory in my PS5 to a robust 8TB, which I believe is the largest drive that is compatible with that console. I hate removing the plastic plates on the PS5 console, but once that was done, everything else went smoothly, including putting everything back together. I had to reinstall everything, but that was already to be expected and nothing that is even worth complaining about. I didn’t reinstall everything, so I figure that I’ll install games as I am ready to play them.
It rained a couple of days ago and it was cold to boot. I don’t mind when it rains, but I’m not particularly fond of having to be in the rain, regardless of reason. For work purposes, Serena and I had to be in the rain this past Thursday. We were in the elements for a good percentage of the day and we would find ourselves frequently getting wet while having to traverse that rain, along with unpredictable wind gusts. We were productive, but the day/night would have gone a lot smoother had we been in the midst of clear skies and less congested road conditions. I think I ate a protein bar for dinner that night, because of how late it was, because I was tired, and because I’m not the type of person to complicate something as simple as dinner. I know people who do that sort of thing and it is so irritating to see. Life is already complicated enough as it is without adding even more complications to it. I’ll replace any meal with a protein bar and not have any second thoughts about it. It truly is that simple.
I worked again this weekend. I was able to keep to myself and get some things done. I didn’t get everything done, which means that I will likely be going into the office tomorrow, even if tomorrow happens to be a holiday. Being that I’m looking at double-time rates if I work tomorrow, I see no reason why I can’t get even more work done tomorrow. Hopefully I’m the only working tomorrow because I’d prefer to not be around so many damn people in the office. I am hopeful. There were way the hell too many people in the office yesterday, to where I really wanted to leave earlier than when I did. Even with the infestation of people in the office, I still managed to stick it out for the seven hours I had intended and we’re looking to do seven more hours tomorrow.
A birthday. Video game console enhancements. Rain. Work. Indeed, my life cannot get any blander and more mundane than it already is.
Funny enough, I don’t think that I would change a thing. While it might be mundane, it’s still my usual.
Well, I suppose we’ll just see what the coming week holds.
I am not optimistic.
