Another month flies by…
I know it’s been a few days since I posted, but I can’t believe April is over already! I’m not upset about it or anything, because I have huge plans for May and am happy it’s here! First thing is I’ve got tickets puchased for this Thursday’s midnight showing of Spiderman 3. I don’t expect any Spiderman movie to be the end all be all of movies, but one thing is always guarenteed: fun and escapism. That’s all I’m looking for and don’t set the bar too high. With expectations like that, it’s hard to be disappointed. Should be a lot of fun, and midnight showings always are… which is why I go. No kids, and everyone is deafly quiet when watching the movie. For a packed house that is a great thing to be a part of, especially on opening day.
Speaking of movies, Leah and I went out to check one out over the weekend. We went to the mall just to browse around, and when walking by the theatre, she caught the wiff of fresh popcorn. I knew that look and was aware that she was gonna want to see a movie. Thankfully the movies I didn’t want to see had already started and limited our choice of what to watch. We eventually decided to see one that I had been kean on checking out: Next. The movie starring Nicholas Cage as the guy who can see two minutes into the future and thus change a lot of things by knowing what’s happening next. The premise was amazing, and while the action was a bit redictable, the twist at the end was cool and made the movie more fun than I thought it would be. For it’s weird storyline, Leah seemed to enjoy the movie a lot more than I thought she would. It was cool movie, and one worth checking out when it hits your local blockbuster…
Speaking of blockbusters… last night’s episode of Heroes was off the charts awesome! That was by far the best episode of the season, and for good reason. To watch the futuristic ass-whooping duo of Hiro and Peter just mop the floors with homeland security and taking on swat teams by the dozen was freaky! If Heroes manages to work off this episode and keep going forward, this could be one of the best shows on television very, very soon. I can’t wait for the next episodes and there are only 3 left for the season! Thankfully we already know that NBC picked up the show for a full second season. Good move on their part… this show has only been getting better and better with each airing.
Another cool thing that happened over the weekend, a friend of mine named Phil dropped in to vist the family. I went to University with Phil and we were dorm-mates for two years back in the day. He’s been living in Toronto for the yast five years, but was just coming back from doing a year long teaching stint in South Korea. I’ve been there and done that and welcomed my friend home with a meal I doubt he’s had since he’s been gone. He only got back a few days ago so the site of BBQ burgers, fries and various salads was welcomed with wide eyes and an empty stomach. It was cool to speak with Phil again and catch up. I don’t talk to to many friends from college and won’t that much now that I’m back in Ontario… but I could tell Leah enjoyed seeing a farmilar face from the island, and it made the visit that much cooler as well. Phil couldn’t believe how big the kids were and it was actually the first time he met Jonathan. It was a good visit and I’m hoping that it won’t be another year before I see this great friend again…
So it was a very good weekend for the family, and I hope that it was a good one for everyone else as well. It’s a very slow day today at the center so I’m going to read some entries and leave a little note love to my buds and gals on OD. Hope everyone has a good Monday and I’ll certainly be around.
Peter

ryn: There is a difference between laws regulating what foreign companies can own, and the government stepping in and saying “yeah, we’taking it.” And make no mistake about it: Chavez isn’t doing this out of personal altruism. PDVSA is a govt-run entity staffed by his own cronies. He’s doing it for political and personal gain.
