Questions asked by thesunnyabyss:

1. What’s the nicest thing you’ve done for a friend?

Helped them dig their car out of a five foot snow drift.

2.How old were you the ‘first time’?

Too young. I was just barely into high school…

3.What is your favorite instrument?

I love the piano. One of my things to do in this lifetime is to learn how to play it.

4.Do you think we are over-medicating, and promoting ‘super viruses’ because of it?

I do think we over-medicate for a lot of things, but I don’t believe in this super-virus crap. I think a lot of people, especially those who deal with mental health are too quick to prescribe and are to lazy to do the work themselves. They try to medicate problems away rather than work with people, which is wrong.

5.Did you fall in love with Leah at first sight?

No, but I did have a fancy for her. She had an amazing smile, and was a really sweet person to hang around with. I wasn’t in love with her the night I met her, but that night I definitely knew I wanted to hang around with her again.

6.What made you start with OD?

A friend named Sandy introduced me to the site in June of 2000. She had a diary there, and since it was suggested to me by my therapist to start a journal… seemed like a good idea. Six years and 1900 entries later, still seems like a good thing.

7.Who’s the boss, you or Leah?

Leah and I have this George Bush, Dick Cheney kind of power relationship on the go. I give Leah all the indications that she’s in charge, while secretly I’m pulling all the strings from the background. Seems to work really well that way.

8.Do you want more kids?

I would love to have more kids, especially if they’re as amazing as Ethan and Jonathan. The reason why we don’t have anymore is cause we really can’t afford to…

9.What is the best story from your past, that you hope your kids never find out about?

My Mom is gonna kill me and my brother when she reads this. But here we go…

One night when I was fifteen and my older brother was seventeen, were were hanging out at our place with another friend we nicnamed McFly. Well, Mom and Dad were out of the province for a convention, and we were all bored to tears on a Saturday Night. We tried to keep ourselves ammused, but that was tough since there is usually nothing but crap on the major stations that night.

Then I noticed on the paper that Terminator 2: Judgement Day was playing at our local drive in theatre. But ther was a small problem: we needed to drive a decent distance to get there and there was no bus available. But Mom had left the Tracker in the driveway and Chris did have his beginners license. We took the Tracker, and left a good hour before the movie started so we could take our time and take the back roads to avoid as much traffic as possible. We arrived about twenty minutes before the movie started, and while we could have stayed for two more movies, we drove back home early cause we didn’t want to risk driving back so late and possibly with our driver a little tired. Well, all three of us had an amazing time, and it was the first time we saw that movie and it kicked major ass watching it at the drivein. I have never told anyone about this ever… until today. The tracker was never damaged and everyone was safe, so no harm… no fowl. Right?

10.Your most embarassing moment was?

I don’t embarass that easily. I mean when something bad happens, like slipping into mud or a bud pulls my joggers down to my ankles during Phys Ed class, I’m the first to laugh and enjoy the joke. My Dad always told me, if you can’t laugh at yourself… you don’t deserve to laugh at anyone else. I’m not ashamed of my embarassing moments and still enjoy a good laugh from them with everyone…

Questions asked by Arsenic22:

1. Did you ever have an imaginary friend growing up?

I had a few. An army as a matter of fact, cause I always imagined I was a medieval king and I led an army to battle. So yeah, I had a few…

2. How old were you when you lost your virginity?

Hmmm… I seeing a pattern here. I was 14.

3. Who is your least favorite band?

Right now it’s Metallica. I used to be one of their biggesst fans, but when they turned on the fans during that whole Napster thing, I lost all respect for them. You sue the company who is provided the site, not the fans who are downloading. This is the same bad that used to allow fans bring tape recorders to concerts, and now they’ve sold out. Nothing but a bunch of corporate whores…

4. Have your ever smoked pot?

Nope, never have and never will. I don’t freak out to people who do, but it’s just not my thing.

5. Who was your first crush?

Her name was Shelly, and we sat beside each other in fourth grade. She was a sweet person, and I really liked hanging out with her. But I moved away four months into that year and never saw her again.

6. Why the hell did Banfield think you were JohnIrish?

I have no idea, but it was a really sweet thing to say. It’s a real compliment to be compared to someone like John.

7. What was the first thing you noticed about your wife the first time you saw her?

Her smile. She has one of those smiles that just lights up the entire room.

8. Do you think Ethan looks like Chunk from Goonies?

Not really, he looks a lot like me though…

9.Why the hell did you move to Canada? Winters there are brutal and summers can’t be all that warm in Newfie Land.

Well, I’ve actually lived in Canada my whole life. I was born in Ontario… and moved to Newfoundland to attend University. So I’ve never lived outside of Canada, just moved from one part to another.

10. How would you fight the War On Terror? What countries would you send our troops into?

That’s the problem. I wouldn’t have sent any troops anywhere. I would have offered the Taliban a massive bride in exchange for the head of Osama. And if you made the right offer, like recognition of government and a seat with the UN, he would have been handed over rather quickly. All the money that has been dumped into the Afghan and Iraq Wars should have been bumped into domestic anti-terrorist divisions, to make sure the mistakes that happened last time would never happen again. A good chunk of that money would have been nice to spend on border patrol and first respose. That is what needed improvement, not our ability to blow people up… and that’s what I would have done.

Questions asked by rear view mirror:

1. How many friends do you think one needs?

When it really matters, one. But it never hurts to have a few…

2. If you could have sex anywhere, where would you pick?

I really like making out on a couch, especially if it’s a nice soft one. Anything else besides that or a bed is too ackward.

3. Name your favorite musical group during each major period of your life. (ie High School, College, etc)

During High School, I was listening to a lot of heavy stuff. Metallica, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, AC/DC and Van Halen were the bands I was into during that time.

When I was attending University,my taste in music really expanded cause I was doing a lot of reviews for the University paper. It meant I listened to a lot of albums I would never buy cause I got them for free just by reviewing them. I got hooked by New Country (Brooks & Dunn, Tim McGraw) and with other different genres such as new age, classical, etc.

As I’m getting older, I’ve been listening to a ton of different stuff. Less of the heavy stuff and more stuff like the Bee Gees, Neil Diamond, David Bowie and other stuff. I still listen to a lot of stuff from my childhood, just not as much anymore.

4. What kinds of medication do you take?

At the moment I’m currently on Zoloft. It’s helping a bit but the side effects are a real pain in the ass… literally.

5. How does love change when you have kids?

Not really, at least I don’t think so. A lot of people get jealous when their wives spend a lot of time with the kids but I love to watch Leah interact with Ethan and Jonathan. For me nothing changed, I just have a lot more respect and love for Leah for giving me two amazing kids.

6. Who have you read the longest that you still read?

Diary wise, the longest people I’ve been reading are Lady Dmaj, and Atheist Under Ur Bed. Zombywoof was one the longest as well, but he’s currently on Haitus. I’m hoping for his return…

7. How tall is Leah?

She’s around 5″4′

8. Do you want any more kids?

I would love to have more kids, but Leah kinda got her tubes tied so I’m pretty much done for this marriage.

9. Did you grow up in Canada or Tennessee?

I grew up in Canada, in Ontario’s Niagara Region. I was originally born in Hamiltion, and was raised in towns known as Ancaster, Grimsby and Beamsville before I finally moved off to the Island.

10. If you grew up in Canada, when/why did your parents move to Tennessee?

My parents moved to Tennessee in 1998 because my Dad was offered a sweet job with an Engineering company. It’s a sweet job and pays well… and he’s loved living in Tennessee. Mom and Dad have been really happy down there and it’s nice to see them like that.

Questions asked by TattooedAngst:

1. Dogs, truly man’s best friend?

If it gets cold enough… 😉

Seriously, Dogs are very loyal, and I saw that first hand. My first dog George was very defensive and protective of myself and my brothers when we were kids. Dogs are great, and I can’t wait to get one for Ethan when we have the space for one. Right now I’m being told that he adores the St. Bernards and has been playing when them since he arrived.

2. Weirdest place you’ve ever had sex?

Bathroom stall. Yes, I’m a slut…

3. Are you more Alice Cooper or Mozart?

I’m a little of both… I think.

4. Nyquil or just a shot of whisky?

Both are just as potent, especially if you take Sutafed with the NyQuil. Can’t forget the Big Q here people…

5. Can you love someone you’ve never met? (Celebrities, authors, etc.)

Nope, not really. I’m sure many of those celebrites are nice people and rather normal when at home, but you can’t love anyone until you get to know the real person behind the persona.

6. What’s the best part of OD?

The block feature. That alone is worth every penny I pay for the OD+ feature. I feel like the Soup Nazi when I use it… “NO ACCESS FOR YOU!!!”

7. Is your wife your best friend?

She is. No one knows me better than she does and that’s a good thing. I can talk to her and be 100% honest cause she knows and loves me for the real me… and that is just super awesome.

8. What is your limit, kids wise?

Right now the limit is two cause Leah got her tubes tied right after Jonathan’s C-Section. So unless she has a change of heart I get a new wife… this seems to be it.

9. Best moment of your life?

It’s a toss up between my Wedding, and the birth of my children. These are the three days I’ll never forget.

10. What is the first book you remember reading? The first movie you remember loving?

The first book I remember reading was Roland Dahl’s “James & The Giant Peach”… and it was pretty cool. I’m trying to find a good copy on ebay right now.

The first movie I remember enjoying was Superman II, which my Dad took me to see. That year was a big year for me and Superman. I had a Superman doll, Superman sheets on the bed… and other stuff.

Questions asked by PrEcIoUsStArSaBoVe:

1. How old was u when U had ur first best friend?

I was around seven, and his name was David Taylor. We were good buds in grade school from grade 1 until Grade 4, when I moved away to another town. I haven’t been able to talk to him since, which is a shame cause good childhood friends like that cool, and I’m envious of Leah who has a ton of friends she’s know forever.

2. Where is the one place u always wanted to have sex?

In a moving elevator.

3. What is your fave song?

Right now, the song I can’t seem to get enough of at the moment is “Numb” by Lincoln Park. That remix of it by Jay-Z is pretty sweet too…

4. Have u ever taken pills for pleasure?

Nope, unless prescribed by a doctor or any other medical professional, I do no ingest it.

5. Do u believe in love at first sight?

Nope, fraid not. If you look at someone and want that person instantly, that’s not love: it’s lust. Love can only come after getting to know someone by talking to them and hanging around with them for a while.

6. Do u trust the people on OD?

I trust a lot of people on OD, some of them have my real name and my email address.

7. Name the best quality u think Leah has.

It has to be her outgoing personality. She’s just a generous and caring person to the point where it rubbs off on a lot of people. I’m hoping that will rubb off on our kids and I really think it has already.

8. Do u want another kid?

I’m sensing a pattern, here and as much as I would love to have more kids… I think we have enough to handle right now.

9. Best memory of ur childhood?

That would be going to the ball park with Dad and my brothers to watch a ballgame. I remember going to the C.N.E in Toronto and going on the rides, and then at night after supper we’d go to Old Exhibition and watch a Blue Jay game back in the old days of Dave Steib, Jimmy Key, George Bell, Llyod Mosby and Ernie Whitt. Those were great memories, and I can’t wait to make some like that with my own Son this year at the Dome.

10. Do u think we should be fighting in iraq?

Nope. A lot of money is being wasted on a war that never needed to be fought in the first place. Now the US has record deficits, and Iraq is going to engage in a civil war that will make Yugoslavia look like a picnic in the park. Saddam was a mean bastard, but like Tito… he was the glue that prevented the nation from melting down into a brutal civil war. Like Tito’s departure, Saddam’s removal has made things worse in Iraq, and anyone who believes otherwise is a complete moron, cause only a moron would prefer a bloody civil war over a brutal dictator.

Great survey. I’ve always wondered how your parents ended up in Tennessee OR you ended up in Canada and now I know. Woot! 🙂
