Back from the Dentist

I have not been to see a Dentist in over sixteen years. I’m scared to death of them and wouldn’t want to see one if I could help it. Yet this week I had no choice, and had to suck it up and visit one. I had a tooth that was causing a lot of pain and most likely needed to be removed. So last week I set am appointment and went today. Being the smart bloke that I am, I traded to have today off and already have tomorrow booked off. So I have the rest of today and tomorrow to recover from whatever was to happen today. I was shaking like a leaf goig in there today, but I knew I had to be there to take care of my current aches. My Dad thought I would have to be knocked out to get anything done, but it was wrong. I managed to get through it awake. I still can’t believe that myself…

I had to wait in the office for about forty-five minutes before finally going in and I met Dr. Pan who seemed to be very nice. He sat down and talked to me first to help me understand what was going on and what needed to be done. We took x-rays, he had a look and determined that I had four rotten molars that needed to come out. That was the bad news. The good news was that the molars that had to come out would have had to eventually be removed anyway. They were wisdom teeth. The normal teeth were fine and he told me I was very lucky. So to day I had the two wisdom teeth on the left side removed, which is very important. We took that side first cause it was those teeth that were causing the pain and migraines all this time. Now that they are gone, I’ll be able to function a little better.

I’ll have the other two removed at a later time, but there is no rush at the moment. The rest of the teeth he said are doing fine and will just need a quick cleaning next time and all will be well. I was very relieved to hear that and really appreciated the fact that he was willing to talk to me and work with me despite my fear and nerves. I really enjoyed working with this doctor and plan to keep him on as my regular dentist. He’s definitely a keeper. So for your amusement, here is a photo of the massive widom tooth that I had extracted today.

This little bugger is the one that caused me to have to visit emerg last week. The other one I never felt come out at all. This big bastard though put up one hell of a fight as I felt a lot of pressure to get it removed. Now that it’s gone, I’m hoping it will relieve a lot of the pain I was feeling last week. I Hope everyone is having a better day and since I’m off from work today, later on I will drop by and leave some notes. Until then, take care…

Peter

Awesome! Make cufflinks! Or earrings for the little lady 😉

that’s great that after all those years it was only your wisdom teeth! i’m horrible about the dentist, too. it’s been about 4 years since i’ve been. and the reason i haven’t gone is because i’m tired of them telling me i have to get my wisdom teeth out. don’t wanna! can’t make me! 🙂 great job on the diet… not being able to eat because your teeth hurt isn’t any fun, tho. feel better.
