Blogathon # 15: Meeting Celebrities…

Time Posted: 4:01pm EST

Another question that was asked by one of my readers:

Have you ever met a celebrity?

I’ve had a few celebrity encounters, but nothing exactly earth shattering. Here are two off the top of my head that I think are fun.

When I was in Nashville visiting my Mom & Dad… one day there Dad asked me to join him to pick up my brother at the airport. It was early in the morning and Leah didn’t feel like going cause she was only up a short time. So Dad and I went to the airport, and we bumped into someone when we were there. I never told this to anyone before: there was some dude that had trouble carrying his luggage, and I offered to help him out. The guy was wearing glasses and a baseball cap… and he smiled back but declined. He said he was all right and I let it go and kept walking towards the terminal where my brother was. My Dad however had a sharper eye than I did. He ran up and said, “You’re never going to believe who just walked by! That’s Faith Hill!” I never noticed her cause I was too busy offered the guy behind her help with his luggage. Then it dawned on me. Does anyone want to ponder a guess to the identity of the man who I was offering my help to?

I had one other moment like that when I was back on the island when I was at the mall shopping for Xmas gifts one year. It’s the biggest mall on the island and when I was there I walked past Great Big Sea singer Alan Doyle, who was shopping for Xmas presents. I thought the last thing he wanted to do was be pestered by fans because he was there with his family looking for gifts like I was. So all I did was nodd, wave, say hello and kept on moving. It was enough, and I like to think that he appreciated that. I know if I was in his shoes, that would be so annoying. He’s not there to meet people but do his own thing… and sometimes you have to respect that.

This year I had a very big celebrity moment when I met John Tesh. It was a nice meeting cause it was part of the VIP ticket I bought to attend his concert. We were able to ask him questions for 30 minutes, eat dinner with him and meet him personally and get an autographed CD. Normally I’m never one to shy away from talking, but I was pretty quiet that day. Very weird… for me at least. It was a great event, and I took a ton of pictures, and if you want to see them click HERE and take a gander…

Those are all the celebrity meetings I can think of off the top of my head. They’re nothing earth shattering, but fun stories to tell none the less. Hope you enjoyed them… and I’ll be back in 30!

very cool, all caught up now, you are doing great, here’s another question, do you think the feminism movement has helped or hindered women today? and, question 2, what did you want to be when you grew up?
