Blogathon # 16: More Ice, please!

Time Posted: 4:31pm EST

I have an ice pack on one of my feet right now. This is sucking the fun right out of the event for me. I think after a few icings it should get better. When the kids go to bed for the night, I am going to get a big friggin’ bucket of ice water and that will take the swelling down a great deal. It looks like my ankle is swelling up a bit now. I haven’t take my meds today, so I might pass on it today and tomorrow until I can call my family doctor. Chris is afraid I might be having a reaction to something and has already asked me to consider tossing int he Blogathon towel. No dice, bro. I’m all right at the moment and the ice is working, so we’ll just keep an eye on it and go from there…

RIght now the house is reallly loud. Ethan and Leah are fiddling on the other computer, Chris is on the phone with Dad and Jonathan is watching an episode of “Maggie and the Ferocious Beast”… so everyone is pretty much distracted. Things will be a little hectic over the next four or five hours, and then the boys will be out for the rest of the night. Until then you’re going to see a lot of half assed entries like this. Short, to the point but they still count.

I just put the ice packs back into the freezer to recharge, and my feet are doing better for now. I’ll have to ice them again in an hour or so when the packs are a little colder. If you have any questions/themes you want me to tackle… keep firing them my way and I’ll try my best to answer them! Thanks again for hanging around and I hope everyone is having a good day!

I hope your feet get better.

Not sure if you’ve gotten ahold of the doctor yet, but do you feel like your shins are really stiff and swollen too, or just your feet? HBP and HC meds can cause this weird reaction where your calves get very hard and painful, but it’s not just like swollen feet, so hopefully you have the latter. My mom had the reaction a year ago, had to switch meds. Ur feet can also swell from high BP in

general (like it’s out of control and the meds aren’t working), and also retaining of fluid/water from the medication, which your body will get used to. It’s also a sign of congestive heart failure, but I highly doubt that has anything to do with you since you just have HBP that was recently discovered. Regardless, call the doctor and hopefully he’ll get you fixed up. Sleep well!
