Guests, cleaning, dinner and a few more guests…
Today is day 3 of 6 for my week off of work. So far I’ve spent the last three days cleaning up stuff, and the weekend was pretty relaxing. I wasn’t too upset about using a great deal of my weekend working around the house, but I guess it didn’t bother me as much because I knew there were four more days off after the weekend. Leah and I had company on Friday. A good friend of mine who I met at the college named Daniel came home to visit. He currently resides in another province. Both him and his fiance from that province made the trip home. Instead of making them drive five hours after being in the air most of the day coming home, I offered to let Daneil and his squeeze to crash at our place, so that they can leave fresh in the morning, and my friend would have a chance to meet my son in the morning. It was good to see them again, and instead of making them crash on the couch, we set out the matress from our old fouton that I hadn’t tossed out yet. It made for a better bed than the couches and they slept well. They left the next morning and it was cool to see my friend again and to meet his fiance.
Leah and I spent the rest of Saturday morning hanging out and cleaning up around the house. After doing that, Leah got another craving. She was suddenly in the mood for Chinese food, but she wasn’t in the mood to cook it. Since I suck at cooking Chinese foods, that meant it was time to hit the phone book and order some take out. That’s when she got specific with her craving. She wanted to go to the Chinese Buffet that was a ten minute walk away by the mall. Well, i wasn’t in the mood to argue with a pregnant woman, so we bundled up Ethan into the stroller and off we went to the Chinese buffet. The buffet was also ultra expensive on Saturdays, but Leah was buying so I didn’t say a thing, and I ordered water to make sure our bill was as small as possible. Ethan however has his juice (and iron medication) packed in his bag so he got to drink something nice with his meal. As we were eating, Ethan didn’t want us to feed him his rice, so for fun I gave Ethan his spoon and put the entire bowl in front of him. Funny thing was, Ethan started to scoop his spoon in the rice and feed himself! Leah and I sat there in awe and watched Ethan pretty much eat an half bowl of Chicken Fried rice with a spoon with zero help! We were so impressed and proud of the little guy.
This is when something really weird happened. Some lady in her mid to late forties came over to our table to speak with us. Ethan was eating his rice and Leah and I were working our out plates as well when the lady came by just to let us know how she thought Ethan was the most beautiful little boy she had ever seen. She wasn’t exactly telling us something we didn’t know, but it felt weird to have complete strangers come up to us while we’re eating to tell us that. We thanked her for her kind words but even I was at a loss to say anything else. Thankfully she returned to her table which was a few feet away from our own. We could tell that her daughters were completely embarassed, but I guess the lady felt the need to tell us that for some reason or another. That was really funny, but we kind of shrugged it off and went back to our meal…
We were stuffed like turkeys when we got back. Even Ethan was full cause he did have a little milk but no snack before he went to bed. We had a message on the machine when I got home and it was another college friend who was in town and wanted to visit that night before he flew back to Toronto the next day. Leah wasn’t in the mood to have more company that night, but realized that it was now or never. She rested while I cleaned the rest of the house up just in time as Phillip and one of his friends from town came by to visit. He stayed for a few hours and we chatted up a storm and caught up. After Phillip left, Leah was actually happy he stopped by, and enjoyed knowing how he was doing in Toronto. Phillip also got a chance to meet Ethan for the first time too, and he couldn’t believe how much the little bugger looked just like me. After that really busy Saturday, we all went to bed for the next day.
Sunday was a lot more relaxed, and we practically did nothing all day. I watche the World Hockey Championship Finals. Canada lost the big game, but itwas a good game and silver is nothing to whine about… its a lot more than what Sweden and the United States got, which was a big fat goose egg. I also caught the last half of the Jays game, but the highlight of the night was catching a new two hour episode of ‘Extreme Home Makeover’ which was about a Cop who had lost his wife to cancer and was raising three boys under the age of 4 alone. Leah was ripping through the klenex box, screeching about ever five minutes during the episode. While the Survivor final wasn’t too bad either, it was nowhere near as good as the home makeover episode. No one shed a tear during Survivor, so it gives you an idea of how emotional the other show is. So that was a cool night to cuddle up on the couch with leah and watch reality TV all night long…
So that was our weekend in a nutshell. Today was more or less the same. Ethan went to daycare, Leah insisted so that we wouldn’t break up his routine. He’s just finally getting along with everyone, we don’t want to mess with a good thing right now. So I got some extra sleep, cleaned up the kitchen and watched a movie (Review coming soon). So that was my day and I hope everyone else had a good weekend and a decent Monday. Since I have a lot of time off, I plan to write more entries this week and make up for a lot of wasted time. Until then, take care and I’ll be around…

Geez, that was a busy weekend. Mine consisted mainly of seeing the Hitchhiker’s Guide and playing the Megaman Anniversary Collection.
