Here and there on a day off…

Today was my day off, which is good cause I have a shore throat again and really needed to have a day away from the phones. I was up early last night too. Ethan was a little restless, so I got up and spent the night playing with the little tyke and watching his Paddington Bear videos. He loves those videos, and giggles all the time when watching it. I got them both off of Ebay and they were worth every penny I paid. They don’t make shows like that for kids anymore. I might have to go back and buy a few more for him, cause they’re going to break at the pace we’re running them in the VCR.

Speaking about spoiling the kid, my Dad has big plans for his grandkid when we come down to Tennessee to see him and Mom. They are getting a full day pass for everyone to check out the City Zoo, which will be cool cause neither Ethan nor Leah have ever been to a zoo before. I’ve seen a few, it’s a cool place to hang out with the family and I think they’ll both love it. Should be fun…

So anyway, back to my day off. I had a few things planned, and not much time to get it all finished. I had to go to the mall to pick up my knapsack, which I had taken to the taylor for repairs. I looked at other bags around town, and they’re all poor quality and for less money, I got my bag, which was made of leather and swede repaired for less. I love this knapsack. I’ve had it for 8 years and have travelled to different continents with it. We have such a long history I hate to part with it.

But before I could hit the mall to get that back, I had to get my hair cut. I had promised a friend that I would let his wife, who runs a private hair saloon in their home, cut my hair. The room they had made up was quite professional, so I was going to get it cut right and I like to help my friends so I agreed to let her cut my hair. So my buddy came by to give me a lift, but she was behind on her previous appointments, so I had to wait a few hours to get my hair cut. So to pass the time, we tried rented a video game from blockbuster and played that on the P2 for a few hours. The picture below will show you what game we played:

I’m not making this up, this is a real game. Basically the game recreates and goes through the storyline of all three prequels just in the form of legos. It’s a very entertaining game. We had a lot of fun playing it. To me, it was one of the most entertaining Star Wars games I had ever played. It was a real hoot, and killed the time rather fast. I’m not really fond of games that are not based on sports, but I liked this game a lot and have really considered buying in the future. Worth a try if you want to see something amusing and fun. I’ve never seen a game take advantage of ‘the force’ as much as this game did, but it was amazing, and the fact that you can kill Jar Jar over and over again without penalty is priceless… almost worth the price alone!

So after a few hours of Lego fun, it was my turn to get a haircut and my friend’s wife did an amazing job. She cut is short and thined it out so that my curly hair wouldn’t stick out all the time. I was very, very impressed. Enough to know that from now on I’ll be going back to her to get my hair done from now on. After that was done, I went to the mall to do a few errands and call it a night. Since I didn’t much done around the house, I picked up some take out for Leah and Ethan and that seemed to smooth things over since she was happy we wouldn’t have to mess the kitchen after all the work we did this week to clean it up again.

So that was my day off, and lately they have been few and far between. Tjhe bubble (a nick name for the people who do the schedules and book days off) had announced that they are accepting vacation requests up to 24 hours in advance since things are slow at work. I have 5 left after getting the request for next month’s trip to Tennessee, so I just might ask for a few days and try to build up a small break with the regular days I have off. I’ll let you know what happens, but until the take care and I’ll be around…
