Rough Weekend

I was supposed to work all weekend, but that just wasn’t possible. I have a half a dozen half done entries that I wasn’t able to get around to as well… but will work on them later this week. I just didn’t have the energy or time or patience to do anything here this week.

Late Saturday night, I got the mother of all migraines and I wasn’t able to sleep at all. I managed to get to sleep around 7am, but because I had no sleep I called in sick and took Sunday off. I think out of 24 hours that day, I spend 20 of them in Migraineville… using Ice, tylenols and anything I could find to try to relieve the pain on the left side of my head. Nothing really worked, but I’m at the center today cause I managed to get a few hours and don’t want to miss two days in a row. I think sheer exhaustion was the only reason why I managed to get to bed last night. I’ve had migraines on and off for the last month, but nothing that lasted as long or as painful as what I had over the weekend.

My plan for this week is very simple. Show up for work and sleep. No OT and take as little meds for this as possible cause the last thing I want to do is have my body get used to the and they stop being effective. I tried to set an appointment for my doctor to get some help, but the earliest I could get was a week Wednesday. Only 10 head pounding days away, but at least it’s something. I also plan to take some advice that I got from a few friends, and anyone with some home remedies that they would like to suggest… at this point any idea would be welcome and greatly appreciated.

The problem this weekend didn’t really kick things up a notch until late Saturday. I was good at work that day, but after supper when I was home that’s when it all went to hell in a handbag. That night I made tacos at a friends place, and there’s a chance there was something in the food (possibly MSG) that my head is likely not reacting to that well at the moment. My head still hurts this morning, but not as bad. I took a scalding hot shower and that seemed to clear my head a little. Right now the goal is to get through today. I’ve got tomorrow off so I’m considering a plan that concerns slapping myself in the other side of my head with a hockey stick until I can’t feel the other side anymore.

However, if I get any better suggestions for you good folks… chances are I’m going to consider them first. Hope everyone else is having a better Monday and if the calls are slow I’ll do my best to leave some notes for everyone!

Hi, for me migraines are often somehow linked with my neck – I can calm them down a bit with a hot wheatbag on the back of my neck- if I can find the second wheatbag I find having it on top of my head also helps. TENSION is really the bottom line jaw clenching will do it too. Then there is eyestrain – plus one yo odn’t have to worry about- menopause. Good luck with it-wel doneon weight loss!!!
