“Told you I was ill!”
Well, guess the tiredness wasn’t just lack of sleep. I’ve also had a failing appetite for a couple of weeks , and anyone who knows me, knows I love my food.
And then last weekend at work I guess things came to a head. Once again I found myself not suffering fools gladly and almost bitching out patients who just haven’t got the common sense they were born with and coming in for stupid things that instead of thinking about for them selves for a few minutes, came to the Walk-In Centre and sat for 2 hours just to be told to take paracetamol and lots of fluids and it will sort itself out!
One guy got so adamant that his wife was REALLY ill ( because she had a temperature and sore throat for 2 whole days!), he insisted she had anti-biotics, despite me telling him it was just a virus. I stressed that anti-b’s didn’t work for viruses, but he said he is sure they would for his wife. So I stood up started unbuttoning my tunic and said “Tell you what, you can finish my shift seeing as you know more than I do!!” He backed down at that, but I have a feeling I will have a complaint landing through the mailbox soon! I did write up the reports and mentioned everything. I also made an appointment for my gp for last Wednesday!
I explained everything to her, told her how I was feeling and she has put me on sick leave for 2 weeks and given me some happy pills, same ones I was on last time, so hopefully they’ll kick in soon. It feels worse this time (last was 2 years ago now!) as I think I have had a couple of anxiety attacks as well , which are not nice at all.
I have to say, just knowing I’m not going to work has made me feel a little better.
Yesterday (Saturday) was my Big Cat photo shoot that the family bought me for my birthday. I hadn’t realised it was so far away. When I checked the directions it was about 150 miles away, which on our roads took me nearly 3 hours. Some of the traffic was bloody awful, but nowhere near as bad as coming home! I got caught in a 2 ½ mile tailback at the toll booths at Dartford crossing , near London. The actual day itself wasn’t too bad, it was really hot and like an idiot I didn’t tak any sun screen so I’m nursing burnt arms and neck at the moment. I also didn’t take enough to drink so got a bit dehydrated which made me feel a little sick as well. Apart from that it was good! The park had 3 male lions, but all they did was lie on their platforms all day. Really boring, so I didn’t manage to get any shots of them, but got plenty of the tigers, leopards, cerval, pallas cats, snow leopards and pumas. I’ve got to convert them yet as I took them in RAW so need to change them to JPEGS to load them up, but I have plenty of time so will do that very soon.
Today we went out to a pub for a meal as it was Mother’s 75th birthday. Lee didn’t go because he’s dosed up with man-flu at the moment and has been for a couple of days. Vicki’s partner didn’t go either because he had a migraine (No real loss!), but everyone else had a good time.
Well not a lot else to say for now. I’ll get on sorting the photos out to get some on here.
Take care all
The more severe the pain or illness, the more severe will be the necessary changes. These may involve breaking bad habits, or acquiring some new and better ones.
