Time

“God… nothing ever goes right.”

Falling to her knees she wept softly as she laid her head on the bed.

“Its not always wrong… is it?”

“Yes… it is.” she replied.  But who was she replying to.  She looked up.

“Things aren’t really right or wrong… but more how you perceive them.”  He walked over to her and put a hand on her shoulder.

“Who are you?”  Kneeling down close to her, he whispered in her ear.

“Would you like to get away for awhile?”  She nodded slowly.  “Take my hand.”

She took his hand and they stood up together.  Looking into her eyes, he smiled softly.  He was somewhat handsome, in a rough but rounded way.  Wearing simple clothes, he raised her hand to his lips, his eyes never leaving hers.  They were a deep emerald green, unending it seemed.  “What am I doing?” she thought.  “I don’t even know him.”  After touching his lips to her hand, he snapped his fingers and suddenly all around them was white.  As far as they eye could see.

“What th…” but he put a finger to her lips and shook his head.  With a wave of his hand the white landscape faded to a beautiful sunset.  Beautiful oranges, pinks and purples faded into a gray, deep blue and black sky glittering with stars.  She looked at him and he only smiled that deep warm smile.

Looking down from the sky, deep turquoise waters met with dusky white sand.  The waves lulled slowly up the beach.  They were not loud, but graceful, wandering up the beach in continual motion.  Suddenly she was aware that the waves were slowing down.  “No, it can’t be…” she thought as the waves all but stopped.  Birds fluttering across the sky came to a gradual standstill as their wings began to beat slower and slower.

She raised her hand in front of her face and found that time still moved for her… but why was it so slow for the rest.  She turned to the curious man to see him gazing off toward the sunset.  Slowly he closed his eyes… “Concentrate” he whispered.  “Let time move around you.  Let it pour over you.”  He stood with his head slightly tilted back, and his hands swelling from his torso.  He basked in the remaining sunlight.  The rays cascaded down his face, warming his stubbled cheeks as a look of peacefulness came over his broad features.
