Time (cont’d)

Staring at his face, she realized she wanted to look that peaceful, that serene.  Like nothing would ever again bother her no matter how hard it tried.

“It’s not as hard as it looks…” he said opening his eyes and turning to regard her with a penetrating stare, “… all you have to do is let go.”  She turned toward the fading sun and closed her eyes.  The waves had returned to their usual rolling, the birds moving swiftly across the sky.

Forgetting all that, she sought to feel with her body, to listen with her soul.  “That’s it…” he whispered in her ear.  She let her body guide her.  The waves began to lull, the birds began to hold back, as if she commanded time itself.  The peacefulness wrapped around her, a warm feeling coming over her senses.  She let herself slip into it.  The sun stopped setting and became a permanent sliver on the horizon, a thumbnail of light on the finger of the world.

She felt his hand on her shoulder and the sounds of the world ceased to exist.  How long had she been like that?  It seemed like an eternity.  Suddenly she fell, but there was no ground, nothing to catch her.  Opening her eyes in fright, she found herself face to face with the man, his passionate eyes staring into her soul.  She was still falling, but not in a bad way.  She wanted to melt!  She wanted to stay this way for the rest of her life, in his gaze.  The feeling was as if she was floating above the ground.  He held out his hand and in it was a pendant.  She nodded and he placed it around her neck.  She reached up and kissed him passionately.  When she opened her eyes, she was laying in bed, staring at the ceiling.

Breathing deeply she closed her eyes and pictured the man she had dreamt of, picturing clearly those piercing green eyes.  Breathing deeply and placing a hand on her bosom… and felt the pendant.
