American Idol Review – The Girls!

Side Note: Paula looks like she hasn’t slept in two days.  Now onto my review.

Mandisa – "Never" – What was with the sound when she first started?  It was almost like an echo without an echo.  Strange.  I like her a lot, but it sounded a little strange.  This girl can really sing and I hope she hangs in there for quite a while. 
 
Kellie – "How Far" – Who can help but root for this little girl?  I didn’t like the song at all, but I think she sang it fairly well with a few off moments.  Her voice isn’t very strong — I can only imagine she’s going to lose her voice in a few weeks.  She’ll make the final 12, she might make it to the final 8 or even 6, but that’s about it.  Unless she really works on her voice and strengthens it.  her saving grace will be the underdog vote.  She’s adorable…like a real live Malibu Barbie, she’s had a horrible life so far and people are going to want to see her do well.
 
Becky – "Because the Night" – The second she said she was singing it, I got nervous for her.  That’s a tough song, fond memories or not — a good strong voice is a necessity for this great song.  Uh oh, bad news, Becky.  You don’t have much of a voice.  And she doesn’t have much stage presence.  Yes, the male watchers may like her (yes, you – Gene), but this was just not good.  She really shouldn’t make it to the 12.
 
Ayla – "Reflection" – I don’t know this song, so I don’t know if she went off in certain places.  It sounded pretty good most of the time.  I was as surprised as the judges.
 
Paris – "Midnight Train to Georgia" – Oh, I can’t wait . . .Where does that girl get so much talent at such a young age. She’s only 17 years old and hot damn she channels the original singer each and every time the girl opens her mouth to sing but with enough of her own talent thrown in that she owns that song. Even my husband got chills last night from her. She’s amazing. If she doesn’t make it to final 2 (I think she should win hands down already) I swear as God is my witness I will boycott that show from then on. I actually got goosebumps AND started balling my eyes out again last night during her performance. It’s so wacky to admit that but she really moves me emotionally every time she performs. Amazing. Amazing. IMHO she becomes the song. Her look, her attitude and her amazing voice. She’s a complete package. I’ve never seen anything like it. She totally transforms into someone else while performing. I heart her, I heart her big time.   Paris blew my socks off last night!!!  
 
Stevie – "To Where You Are" – The upper ranges of her voice are rather weak.  There was no transition.  I agree with Randy — it was boring.
 
Brenna – "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" – Her personality is too much and I don’t want to see her again.  I don’t care for her voice — she was off quite a bit.  Did they let her through just because she was brash?  She wasn’t good in that last audition either.  PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LET’S JUST GET RID OF BRENNA HO. I seriously want to jump through the screen and knock her on her ass every time I see her. Bah!!! She’s not idol material. She’s a snake in the grass and I think she’s only there so she can cause trouble and spout off at the mouth to Simon and increase ratings because of the added drama factor.

 
Heather – "When You Tell Me That You Love Me" – Don’t know the song.  Bad start.  Weak voice.  Not good.
 
Melissa – "When the Lights Go Down" – Don’t know this song, but I liked her husky voice.  She did go a bit pitchy here and there, but I liked her voice.  It won’t get her to the end, but I hope she doesn’t leave quite yet.  She’s got to learn to keep her voice on pitch.
 
Lisa – "I Am Changing" – Don’t know this song either.  Wow!  If I had to pick a winner tonight, in spite of hearting Paris, it would be Lisa, hands down.  The performance of the night.  I’m looking forward to when they do a makeover on her, fix those eyebrows.  Hmmm, Lisa or Mandisa . . . I don’t know.  She’s adorable and wow, again, what a raw talent for someone so young.
 
Kinnik – "Get Here" – Interesting voice, a big voice.  Off slightly, but I want to hear more from her.  She won’t go the distance. 
 
Katherine – "Since I Fell for You" – She thinks it was first sung by Streisand?  Ok, she’s young.  Not the strongest start.  I didn’t like her as much as she likes herself.  She has some weird affectations that bothered me.  I don’t know why Simon and everyone picked her performance as the best of the night.  *scratches head*  Maybe she reminds me too much of a Kelly Clarkson?  I want someone different but I’m not getting it with her yet.
 
Who should go home?  Brenna, Heather, Becky, Melissa, maybe Kinnik?  I guess you can tell my vote is for Brenna Ho getting sent back to her home grass.
