busy summer

OMG, this year’s summer vacations will be so cool! I am gonna be so incredibly busy in the next two months – almost every week there will be something new to see and do, a lot of traveling and sightseeing and photo taking… yay!

Starting this weekend with Long Night of Museums in Warsaw. It’s a European event – in most big cities all over Europe, museums, galleries, concert halls and so on are open all night and you can enter for free. In Warsaw there is additional fun because for that night the standard public transport buses and trams will be replaced with the really old ones from 1960’s and later, looking like these:

This one is from late ’70s and was nicknamed Cucumber:

Trams like this one were used before the WW2:

There will also be some concert stages in a few place in the Old Town district so you can chill out listening to good music while drinking your favorite latte or beer. Squee!

Another thing I can’t wait for are Tall ship Races 2009 in Gdynia. From the website: it’s is an annual event organised by Sail Training International and it is a gathering of the greatest and most beautiful tall ships sailing across the oceans. Every year a fleet of around hundred wind-powered vessels call at four host ports drawing in huge crowds of visitors. On the way between the ports the fleet compete in the races. The most impressive and getting the most attention is, of course, the regatta of the largest sailing ships (Class “A”). estive, colourful parades, concerts, firework displays, sport competitions – all these events create a memorable atmosphere in each city en route. The highlight is, undisputedly, the magnificent parade of sail. The roadsteads are then full of hundreds of vessels.

Also, some time in June I am finally going to Cracow. It is a real shame that I have been living in Poland all my damn life and haven’t seen the gothic Castle Wawel there, Sukiennice and the entire Old Town district. Hotel prices in Cracow are insanely high, however, (yes, I refuse to sleep in a hostel or any other scary place like that) so I’ll only be staying there for three days, but I think it will be enough to see the most important parts and take lots of photos.

Sukiennice:

Old Town:

I’ll add more as soon as I have more dates and plans fixed. Oh my gosh, so much to see and so little time!
