HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

I just had a thought. Amazing isn’t it? What are you planning to do for Father’s Day? What have you done in the past to celebrate Father’s Day? Was it a day for fun? A day for relaxation? a day to show your father how much you love him? how much you appreciate all he did/does for you?
How about if these celebrations were spread out over the entire year?
How about if we buy a present every few months etc?
How about if we share lots of quality time during the year?
How about we tell our fathers how much we love him during the year and not just wait for Father’s day?
How about doing something special for our Father many times during the year?
Why wait just for Father’s Day?
I always hated the pressure of celebrating Father’s Day on a special Day? What do I buy him? What do we do?
I think it is a better idea to celebrate Father’s Day over the year. In fact it should be the same for Mother’s Day. We should celebrate each other during the year. We should show and tell our love and appreciation throughout the year.
How does that sound? Does it make sense? How about a Father’s day card any day of the year? Would that not make it more special? How about making MOM breakfast on a Sunday that you chose?
Why do we need to do it when Hallmark etc. tell us we should? As far as I am concerned right now Mother and Father’s Day is contrived and therefore is meaningless? I don’t like being "forced" to buy a present or show my love and appreciation.
So this is my CALL TO ACTION!!

CALL YOUR FATHER/MOTHER SEVERAL TIMES A MONTH/WEEK AND TELL THEM YOU LOVE THEM/APPRECIATE WHAT THEY HAVE DONE FOR YOU.

GIVE YOUR LOVED ONES A HUG AT LEAST ONCE A DAY.

BUY SOMETHING FOR YOUR LOVED ONE. NOT JUST TO BUY SOMETHING BUT SOMETHING THEY WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE. HOW ABOUT A SPECIAL FRUIT THEY ENJOY? A SPECIAL BOOK THEY WOULD ENJOY? GO FOR A WALK WITH THEM. JUST SIT ON A BENCH AND CHAT.
SPEND TIME WITH YOUR LOVED ONES. NOT JUST ON THEIR SPECIAL DAY. DO IT AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN. LISTEN TO THEIR STORIES OF THE PAST.
SO I WISH EVERYONE A HEALTHY A HAPPY DAY SHARING TIME WITH LOVED ONES. IN THE END THAT’S ALL THAT COUNTS.

ryn–I think you are absolutely right. Sometimes an escape. Sometimes a comfort.

Now that is the way we should all be thinking. Show our love and appreciation daily. Love,

My dad passed away in 1992, I still miss him very much.

You’re right. We should appreciate them every day we have them.

I appreciate them everyday, but seeing how much the boys in this family enjoy Father’s Day, it’s worth the effort to spend an entire day spoiling them rotten. They love it! Uhuhhhhh…I think it was a commercial discovery, but has become something a lot more through the years. We dont buy gifts’- only love them to the point where the become happy little boys again! 🙂
