Last night I went to see a show starring a friend’s granddaughter. I had heard about her for awhile and everyone said she was wonderful. She is a 12 year old little girl with an amazing voice.
So why couldn’t I relax and enjoy the show???
I drove downtown with my friend and her boyfriend. We had bought expensive seats so went right in. We got there about seven. My friend sat with her family and I went looking for another place to sit. I didn’t mind at all. I met this wonderful warm woman who invited me to sit at her table. She was very friendly. The show didn’t start till a little after eight.
The show started with a band. It was loud and I didn’t like the music at all. They played for three quarters of an hour!!! I was so fed up and impatient. I wanted to hear the little girl. The music was so LOUD!
Finally the little girl came on stage. She was adorable. I don’t know why she had a band with about ten instruments and her coach and other singers behind her. I found it very loud again. Why oh why does the music have to be so loud? She is a sweet 12 year old. WHY DOES SHE NEED SUCH A LARGE BAND AND WHY DOES HER VOICE HAVE TO BE SO LOUD??? For whatever reason I couldn’t relax and enjoy it. At the end she sang OVER THE RAINBOW. Only her and a man on the keyboard on stage. It was soft and wonderful! She is a very talented little girl. Her parents are making sure she stays young. She wore jeans and a t shirt with a sweater on top.
I was so upset after because I couldn’t gush about how great she was. I could only complain about the music being LOUD!!!
Oh why don’t I just appreciate and enjoy????
I ended up going home with other friends as I didn’t want to have to talk to the grandmother.
Yesterday I made my chicken soup and noodles. Today I made meatballs, noodle kugel and a honey cake.
I went bowling this morning but had two lousy  games!!!! The first game I got about 140 and then I couldn’t get over 100. I think I will go practice when I have a chance.
Hubby is out playing bridge.
I enrolled for two long distance learning courses I am really excited about. One is Natural Health Consultant and the other desktop Publishing.
Tomorrow my grandson will be here. YEAH! Not sure what we will do. Lately we have been staying home and playing with new toys I bought. Tomorrow maybe we will go to the park.
Time to study.

this ( and your latest note to me) tell me that you are a “glass half empty’ person rather than a “glass half full” person… maybe you can try to savour the memory of that precious young voice and next time sit further back so the music doesn’t seem so loud. (I am sympathetic, as I don’t like loud music either… but write this from a more general reflection on your question ) be happy….. hugsP

I do not like loud music either.

I made chicken soup this week too! I also signed up as a sub for the women’s bowling league here in town.

not sure why they have to play so loudly either, it wasn’t a rock show after all. If her voice is good enough you don’t need so much instrumentation. Sorry you couldn’t enjoy the show!

Well, I know what you mean about music that’s too loud. I don’t really care for it, either. But, I am glad you finally got to enjoy the little girl’s voice with the Over The Rainbow song!!!! 🙂 Enjoy your grandson tomorrow!!!!!!!! 🙂 Big Hugzzz…

Hi! ABout your friend teaching English… have her check http://www.onestopenglish.com and to go to the British Council websites for teacher resources (she can find them with a simple search). Where will she be teaching?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with you at all. Loud music ruins it… simple as that… and it actually hurts the ears (mine anyway). I went to a Gypsy Kings concert a few years back… the speakers were so loud that I actually couldn’t hear the music. I just don’t get it either… Why, why, why, does music have to be played so loud? 🙁

I agree. I do not like the music loud or even the tv. It would have upset me also. You couldn’t pay me to go to a concert rock or country as the music is always blaring and it rattles my nerves.I do not understand how the younger generation can go around with those players with ear plugs in their ears with music coming out so loud I can hear them from afar.

I don’t like loud music either. It hurts my ears and my brain as well! Good luck with your courses you’re taking, and with bowling. When I used to bowl, practice only seemed to make me worse!! hugs, Weesprite

I don’t like loud either..sounds like a wonderful show otherwise. I had a friend who used to bring ear plugs for moments like that.

It’s sad. I think the younger generation damages their ears at an early age from all this loud music, and then they HAVE to have it loud to hear it later on — so everything is LOUD – but us who have protected our hearing are being damaged now with THEIR music. It is very sad and this little girl will lose her hearing and won’t be able to sing worth a darn then. – My prediction!

loud music ruins everything. It doesn’t matter what the event is. I hope you have fun with your grandson today!
