The Holidays

Well I made it through the holidays. Didn’t have to work on Christmas Eve. I slept late, watched TV, lounged around most of the day. My brother in law texted in the late afternoon saying that my sister was sick but that I could come over, watch TV and hang with them anyway. I politely declined. I really didn’t want to catch my sister’s cold. Christmas Day I slept late and went to my friend and J’s house for dinner. I ate, we hung out and I came home. I had to work the Thursday and Friday. I went to my sister’s house Friday after work and we exchanged gifts. I got a Star Trek T-Shirt, a gift certificate from Barnes and Noble (so I can buy books for my Nook!) and a Roku (cuz I no longer have cable). They also gave me a loofah and some body wash, which upon closer examination was actually a facial wash :/ From my secret Santa at work I got a Starbucks gift card (I’m hooked on Chai Tea Lattes), some lottery scratch offs, an Annie Lennox CD (my favorite singer) and a box of Andes mints. So it was a good Christmas.

Had to work New Years Eve (since I got Christmas Eve off) but got off early. I went to my sister’s and we went out to eat and watched movies. It was OK, quiet but OK. I slept late New Years Day and then worked off and on putting my Elliptical. Did I tell you that I ordered an Elliptical from HSN a few weeks ago? I figure that I could use it during the winter when I can’t walk because of the weather. My diet and exercise regime has fallen by the wayside. 🙁 Putting together the Elliptical was a nightmare! Never again am I buying something that requires assembly. I worked on it off and on all afternoon New Years Day and I still have to put one of the arm things and the seat. That’s my plan for this weekend. To finish putting it together.

My niece is still MIA. She’s still not talking to my sister. She filed for a protective order against her ex boyfriend which the judge denied. Her ex has filed for custody and visitation and the first hearing is set for next week. It’s a very sad situation.

Still no word from Shane. I have been good and not called him. The plane ticket is for the 16th. My plan is to wait until a couple of days before then and cash in the ticket. I’ve signed up on some online dating sites without much luck. I know some it is that my heart isn’t in it. I probably need to take some more time.

My plans for the day are to go eat at Katie’s Griddle and finish putting together my elliptical.

Everyone have a good weekend!!

i’m glad you had a good holiday. i love getting barnes and noble gift cards!! they are great. i know it must be hard for you to not to have heard from shane but it’s probably for the best. both of you have lives where you live now. prayers you find someone who lives much closer to you so that you two can get together and get to know each other slowly and not cram so much in on quick visits every now and again. might be a good idea to wait on looking for someone new. i have a treadmill in my basement. i’ve used it once in 4 years. i now go to the gym to walk on the treadmill. for some reason that’s easier for me than going down to the basement. besides, i can use the other machines when i finish on the treadmill. prayers for your niece. take care,

I love Amazon gift cards and I didn’t get ONE this holiday! I know what you mean about putting those things together. When I had the treadmill, I paid people to put it together for me. It was over $100 but money well spent! Hope you like the Roku as much as I do. I have Amazon–because I use Amazon Prime a lot and I recently signed up for Netflix. I am hooked on Dexter at the moment!
