December 2010 Queensland Floods (edit pics)

I almost didn’t even make it out to the parents and Kiki’s place for Christmas because my damn car wouldn’t start!  I tried everything – new battery in it, new spark plugs, more fuel – nothing.  My friend Matt was helping me and he was adamant that the car wasn’t gunna start, but I absolutely refused to give up because I know my car so well.  When I asked him to go check his car because the parking officer was going around slapping fines on people’s cars (on Christmas EVE mind you, fucking bastard, I dunno how he sleeps at night!), he went and checked it, and I decided to try it one last time whilst he was gone, andd WULLAH my Beaver started!!  Beaver is the name of my car btw for all you sick fuckers out there 😛  So yes!  I was back in action!  I PROVED Matt wrong!!  HA!  He owes me now muhahaha.

Well so much for my video entry on the farm!  LOL!  I had it all planned and everything – brought my camera, was gunna jump on the 4-wheeler motorbike and ride up the farm to my favourite spot as a child and shoot a video entry showing you all around the spot I used to go to and think, and do a lot of other things as well mind you lol.

Needless to say, I’ll let the pics explain WHY this did not happen =)

This was taken from inside my car on the drive back to Brisbane this afternoon.  I had to leave or else I probably would’ve got stuck down there.  This was the river at Laidley, I forget the name of it, but it’s the reason the main highway was being threatened at being cut off.

This is me quickly snapping the camera without looking by the way, because I was driving haha.  The road was FULL of potholes.  My poor car hit some pretty hard and I was afraid why wheels were gunna fly off haha.  I know my car badly needs a wheel alignment.  I pulled into a servo to pump up my tyres at one point because I could hear a similar sound to a flat tyre and when I pumped them up, my back rear tyre only had a reading of 14!!!  LMAO!!  It’s meant to be 32!!  So yes, I fixed that up 😀  I definitely felt the potholes more with pumped up tyres!  I actually thought the problem tyre was my front left one, but nope, the other’s were fine.

More photos snapped with my camera whilst driving along lol

Now this isn’t a river people, these are just paddocks on the side of the road =)

This is the main road going through Millmerran (my home town where I first went to school)

This is a photo my mum took – there is a crop of dad’s mung means beneath the water 🙂

This is the ‘S’ Bend on the Gore Highway.  The southern part of our family farm is on the left.

This is a photo taken by my cousin.  It’s a view from Pampas, which is between Pittsworth and Millmerran.  This is the road connecting her family’s farms.

I wonder if anyone see’s the irony in the sign.  Pretty much thought it was stating the obvious lol.

This is Lemontree Weir.  The three kids are my nieces and nephew and their dog, Hoochy 🙂  I definitely wouldn’t recommend trying to cross this one because it dips down a fair bit and your car would be submerged.

Another photo taken by my older bro

This is one of the Chinchilla photos.  I feel sorry for those folks – it’s where Jacko was from when I dated him.  It’s their worst flood in 25 years.

The driveway to one of the neighbours properties out near the farm.

Those poor cows!

The main road heading into Millmerran again, first intersection.  I think I’ve only seen this part flood maybe twice or three times in my lifetime.

And a few spectacular shots taken by my aunty 🙂

So yeah, HERE’S the reason why you ain’t getting a video entry from me 🙁

Oh my god! I’m SO glad that I wasn’t there for that. Dark water freaks me out.

That’s a LOTTA WATER! lol Fortunately, even though I grew up in (and again live in) a town that’s prone to flooding and tornadoes, I’ve never had either strike the streets I lived on or my own home.

wow! I hope it all dries up quickly and there is not too much damage! and OMG! A KANGAROO!!?? that is the coolest thing i have ever seen! I suppose that its really common for you to see them, kind of like how its common for us to see armadillos and opossums. Though, I for one, am completely AMAZED by the kangaroo shot!

Australian sunsets=way better than America. I’m so moving my happy ass down there.

I’m still shocked everytime I see a kangaroo hopping around randomly in a picture. In the US we only see them in zoos and when they’re heavily sedated. So, not only is the kangaroo surreal, but that water overtaking the farms is crazy!!
