My daughter’s progress

My daughter called me last night and we talked for an hour! She was so excited! She started her Adderall yesterday and she said it was a game changer! She said that she feels like a an upgraded version of herself. She’s always had trouble fully focusing when it comes times to do her notes on her patients after their visits but now she can. She said she never knew what she was missing, didn’t realize that (in her words) “normal” people felt this way. She can’t believe she waited so long to seek professional help and actually give it a chance. She actually apologized to me and told me I was right because when she was in her teens I tried getting her into a psychiatrist and she refused to give it a chance. She refused to cooperate and talk to him so I finally had to quit taking her. It was a waste of money. Now she sees that I was right all along and would have had help alot sooner if she’d only give it a chance. I’m very happy for her!

The last few days have been loud and frustrating with my dog Tito. Now that the air conditioner is out of the window in the living room and I can leave the window open during the afternoon he sees and hears many people walking down the street. I live on a fairly busy street down a block from a convenience store called Circle K and it brings lots of people up and down the street. Not to mention the middle school is on my street further down and the alot of kids walk home from school past my house. Everyone someone walks past he barks uncontrollably. This goes on for hours! My dad had bought a dog trainer remote that emits a high pitched dog whistle that only dogs can hear.  He used it on his new dog when he got her because she barked alot and it WORKED! I  borrowed it from him today to start trying to train my dog not to bark every time someone walks past. So far it’s stopped him each time he started up. He definitely doesn’t like it. I’m impressed already!

The mac and cheese I made last night wasn’t up to my expectations. I didn’t like how the cheese set. I won’t be making this one again. Tonight I’m going to make the Creamy Honey Mustard Chicken again that I made last month. It was really good! It’s even topped with crumbled bacon which I didn’t think should go with it but it really does!

My son messaged me in the middle of the night. I got it when I woke to get my second dose of narcolepsy medicine. He says that his friend Isaiah has a high school football game tomorrow at 10am and would really like my son and I to go and support him. I HATE football! However he has noone to be there for him and he’s like a son to me so I’ll probably end up going. It breaks my heart that he has no family really to support him. I gotta talk to my son later about it.

Anyway, that’s all I got for today. Take care my friends!

So happy your daughter is doing well with it

That’s good news about your daughter!

Bark collars are also good…and you don’t have to be home to stop the behavior.

I wouldn’t get in a crowd for all the tea in China!

The reason all dogs bark at people or people in uniforms is to warn you that someone is coming. And they are just protecting you and their home.  So to stifle them from doing that is like stapling a Childs mouth shut so they can’t cry or talk.  I think after a bit the dog will stop on it’s own once the novelty wares off……And I wouldn’t use that because it’s not fair that the dog has to hear that every time it barks. And continuing to use it will make the dog want to make any noises.

@jaythesmartone They are used to train the dog. I don’t press it every time he barks. Only when he’s doing it at times he shouldn’t be. If someone comes to my door he’s allowed, when he plays with my other dog he’s allowed. I only stop him when he’s barking at everything and anything and in the car. He barks at people in other cars when we’re driving and battles at everyone he sees even when they’re not near my house so he has to learn not to do that. The novelty hasn’t worn off in over a year, he’s not going to stop on his own.

*barks, not battles

Good to hear about your daughter. Sometimes people just need to be ready to accept things.

Hopefully your dog will get used to the normal sounds. Maybe I need a whistle like that for the shepherd.

Football isn’t my favorite either, but may e it’ll be fun knowing someone who is playing. Poor kid. It’s so sad nobody in his family will go support him.

I’m glad your daughter is doing well!

Ugh, I don’t like football either, but to support someone I love I would definitely go.
