American Idol Review – The Guys Week 2
< — real entry that way.
Well, better late than never. I wrote this in WP yesterday but didn’t manage to get it here. Now that the results show have aired I don’t know why I am even bothering other than to rehash what I thought. See if I was right at the end.
Taylor — Easy — Those hats are called toboggans? Ok . . . he needs to not to do many woos and ehs and ohs — one or two per song is enough. I liked this. Yes, he was a bit wobbly at times, but I liked it. It wasn’t incredible, but I liked it. He’s got to be careful not to be too clownish as he has to fight the public already on his looks and odd style. Still, I love him.
Elliott — Moody’s Mood for Love — Very well sung. His voice is light and tripped along lithely over the notes — very nice. It sounded very professional. Well done. Very well done, was cheering on my couch!
Ace — If I’m Not Made for You — Ouch, not so good, Ace. He has an interesting voice, but not a great voice. So he has to choose wisely. He goes along so well, and then misses. Well, he certainly closed nicely. Maybe he was just nervous so it didn’t sound so strong? I loved Simon saying "Careful" to Paula. I don’t think Ace wanted Brenna to catch is little hat. (Still though with the schmoopie eyed looks that I can’t stand. I’ve nicknamed him "Longing Eyed Lothario".)
Gedeon — Change Is Gonna Come — Well sung. A little sharp once or twice on notes, but well done. I’ve always liked this song. What, he’s 17 or 18? I thought he was close to 30. I didn’t realize he was just a kid. And I’m sorry, but again, I just can’t stand to watch him. I have to close my eyes to give a fair review. His entire look and attitude is just very off putting to me. I call him "The Joker".

Now tell me that doesn’t remind you of Gedeon.
Kevin — Heard It Through the Grapevine — Oochy ouchy! This was just plain bad. Bad karaoke. The worst performance of the night so far. Oh Kevin, you gotta do better than this hon. Next.
Sway — Overjoyed — Started off wobbly, but picked up quickly. There are certain falsetto notes that he’s kind of fuzzy on, where he loses some of the strength — it’s kind of strange. I noticed it last week, too. But I think he did well this week. I liked it better this week than the judges did, I guess. I’m not quite sure why they disliked it so much — it was a hell of a lot better than Kevin’s awful performance.
Will — Lady — Why pick a song like this? I guess some old folks will vote for him — much older than me. He also hit all the notes, but who cares. I was bored. Simon thinks he will appeal to 11 year old girls, while I think it’s 80 year old women (or some men).
Bucky — "Thunder Rolls" Garth Brooks — He cracks me up. There’s something in his voice that I like. Off in a place or two, but good job, Bucky. However, watching him I get the feeling he’s depressed. Watch his eyes, there’s a lot of sadness hidden there.
David — Way You Looked Tonight — I don’t watch American Idol to hear this stuff. I guess his voice has a pleasing tone, but I don’t care. And he was really nervous. Next.
Chris — Hemorrhage — Very strong, intense and passionate. Great job. A complete performance. A great way to end the show. I actually was captivated and clearly this was the BEST performance this second go round, girls included. He’s got it. Let’s see if the voting public does their job correctly because quite plainly, he’s a total package and SHOULD be the next AI. (Sorry Taylor, I personally LOVE you, but Chris is way more appealing to the general public.) Besides, I’d really like to see a ROCKER make it once.
Who have I seen more than enough of? David, Will, Kevin
By the way, the Chicken Little comment about Kevin was cruel and I was disgusted by Paris for feeding that. Shame on her. She lost MAJOR points with me for her cruelty. She’s changing right before my eyes. She’s not as seemingly sweet, unaffected and innocent as she portrayed herself to be during the auditions. *glares* Now the poor guy is going to be called Chicken Little for the rest of his life! That ain’t right.
AFTERNOTE:
I am totally shocked Sway got the boot last night, but not surprised at who was in the bottom 3. Actually, glad David got axed. This isn’t his type of show and I’d hate to see him change just to fit the mold.
i liked Taylor, Elliott and Chris. everyone else should just dig a hole and then get in it – especially PAULA! OMG! is it just me, or is she TOTALLY WRECKED ON PAIN PILLS?!?!?! what a freak. and he’s not Chicken Little – he’s Radar from MASH. *giggles*

Ace actually sang “If you’re not the one”… My fave is Elliot. He’s awesome. I love his voice! I like Ayla in the girl’s group. Maybe I’m kinda biased since she’s from Mass too. Oh well.

I picked out the bottom three beforehand, but thought it would be Kevin going home and not Sway. Maybe Will picked Lady because Kalan Porter sang it and then won Canadian Idol #2 😉

i fell asleep during the way you look tonight. who the hell sings that on AI???
Warning Comment
didn’t brenna get booted? i was so confused bc then she started performing. i missed the chicken little thing. but i dislike paris immensely.

Ace pisses me off. He’s such a pretty boy. It’s irritating. I hate pretty boys.

I could stare into Ace’s eyes all night long. Heh. I LOVE them. I think I’ve watched Chris’ performance about 10 times. I actually downloaded that song (always liked it)…but I like his better.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. Taylor better get it or he will be gone. Gosh, that is scary how sick you got (last entry), you should have called 911 but I prolly would not have either. Try to take care.
