I Swear…These Arms

Great music will stand the test of time.  It just does.

I’ve always had a preference for studio-recorded music.  It’s because of that preference, among other reasons, that I will likely never attend a concert or any event where live music is the sole method of entertainment.  Interestingly enough, I sometimes find myself drawn in by live performances of songs that I particularly enjoy.

Across my travels on YouTube, I happened to come across the video above.  I know it’s been about 30 years or so since these guys were doing their thing and had set the R&B charts on fire, but I find that this live performance of their hit song, “I Swear”, is actually not half bad.

As you can clearly tell, All-4-One got old (as we all do), but for the most part, their voices remain mostly intact.  I found this rendition to be very well done.

Hearing this song got me thinking about some of their other songs.

The song below, titled “These Arms”, was released as the first single from their sophomore album, “And the Music Speaks” and I think it’s one of the better songs on that album.  I suppose I’m a day late with this entry, as my research online indicates that “And the Music Speaks” was released 06/06/95.  I absolutely love this song.  At least for me, it’s definitely a classic and one that should have been a released single from that second album.  It was the first of three singles released from this album.

I didn’t think that there was an official video for the song, but apparently, I was wrong.  Well, there you go.

As far as the reason as to why I’m listening to these kinds of songs at the moment, I want to say that I randomly stumbled about these songs.  That’s a good enough reason and it’s definitely plausible.

Subconsciously, there may be other reasons.

Maybe I’m reminiscing?
