Blogathon # 32: Strategy for sleeping tomorrow

Time Posted: 12:31am EST

I’m sure many people like myself are going to crash and sleep the minute this whole event is over, but for how long and when should you wake up again to prevent youself from staying up the next night? Well since this is my third straight blogathon, here is my advice for sleeping in the next morning.

1) Set a time and stick with it.

Last year what worked for me was six hours. I went to bed around 10am (had something to eat) and got back up around 4pm. This worked for me because I was able to go back to bed at my normal time and then reset my clock and not mess up my normal sleeping pattern. This is the strategy I’m going to use tomorrow as well. I’ll be asleep by around 9:30am, and then will wake up around 3:30pm or 4pm. This way you’ve still got some sleep but will be tired enough to hit the sack when you normally would have if you didn’t do the event.

2) Eat something before going to down.

Doesn’t have to be anything large, but something to keep that stomach settled. The last thing you want is your stomach to growl you awake while you’re trying to get your first batch of sleep. Something light but heavy one the tummy like toast and a glass of juice is enough. But have something cause nothing might wake you up from your sleep.

3) Leave something to drink by the bed.

Even something as simple as a glass of water, so if you do wake up… you can wet the whistle, maybe pee and then go right back to bed.

4) Be nice, we volunteered for this…

If you’re like me and you’re bound to be a little cranky… just remember that we volunteered to do this and shouldn’t take it out on those who live with us. I’ve done well the last few times to avoid this, but each time it’s a chore. With some sleep after the event it should be a little easier. We are here of our own accord, no one is behind us holding a gun… so when it’s all said and done, keep a grip and take your aches like a man and go right to bed!

That’s really all I can think of for now… this is one sure fire way to make sure you have a decent sleep and reset the clock to get back on track. Hope that helps but that’s all I got for now… You know the routine.

Later,

Peter

I planned on getting up at noon.

Very nice. I am used to sleeping wonky hours, so I’m sure I’ll be fine … Hehe. That’s great that you posted this for people though. I’m sure it’ll help at least one person out there in Blogathon land. I’m coming up on my 3rd post already. Time is flying 🙂 I’m sure I’ll be singing a different tune, oh, twelve hours from now. Question. Do you have to wait 30 minutes between posts? Do we have to write ONLY 48 entries? I think I’d much rather just post post post post post for the whole event, that way I don’t get bored in between time increments. Know what I mean, jelly bean? Post a little ditty with the answer in your next blog, or come see my blog (http://www.alannablogs.blogspot.com) and leave me a comment. Please note, you must have an account there in order to leave feedback. Sorry for any inconvenience that may cause. Oh, and did you get my pledge the other day? It’s not much, but I’m trying to give a dollar to every other blogger who sponsors me.

Once my event is over, I’ll likely … I don’t know. But I usually go to bed between 12 and 4, so when this is up tomorrow night at 11, I’ll just go to bed at my “normal” time 🙂
