Nanowrimo: back to work…

I took two days off from writing the novel because I got too caught up in the excitement and celebration that was the US election. I made sure I got off to a good start because I knew there was no chance at all I was going to get anything written those two days, but now that it’s all over it’s time to get back to work. With a little over five hundred words to 10,000… I’m in good shape since tomorrow is only the end of the first week. I plan to work hard throughout the weekend and finish somewhere between 15K – 20K. That’s the plan.

The novel is actually taking shape better than I hoped it would. Forcing myself to go ahead with a concept and story that I was hesitant to try before has hatched new ideas, and subplots I didn’t think of before and it’s starting to look better everyday. A promise to my favorites, an excerpt of the new novel will be posted within the next few days. I always try to post a few samples of the book every month when I do Nanowrimo, and this month will be no exception. I’m thinking about what scene would be perfect but haven’t decided yet.

With the election out of the way, I see little distraction from here till the end of the month (knock on wood). So I’m going to try to work hard to make this a month when I finish a few days early, rather than one the very last day like last year. That was too close for comfort and I don’t want to repeat that. So that’s it for now. I have a badly neglected novel that requires a little attention. Take care everyone and I’ll be around much later…

I love your idea for a story. It’s something I’ve thought about in the past (not for writing a book, but something that may well be occurring in the real world).
