Update on a few things…
I am currently in the post Nano phase, meaning that I am doing little or no writing from here until Christmas. That’s been pretty normal for me for the past three nanos. It just seems that I usually take a short break after going through 50,000 words. But with the fourth nano in a row out of the way, I am looking forward to relaxing, then I will likely pick the book up again in January and finish off the last few chapters. It was a very difficult nano this year, but one of my 1001 goals is to write three successful nanos, so with one out of the way… only two more to go in order to finish this goal.
Another goal is to lose weight. I set a huge goal for myself, to lose 101 pounds in three years. As of today, I am down 5.7 lbs. since I started. I am going to use my Wii fit a lot more, but the walking I’ev been doing lately to take the boys to school/daycare is going to drop the majority of them. I am trying to make plans to buy an eliptical for the spare room so I can do more cardio and what not… and it looks like I might have the money to get it.
There is a good chance I am getting another big bonus next week from work (knock on wood) and that will be more than enough to get one. I need to exercise more and eat better as well, which means I am going decrease what I am eating rather than chance it completely. So rather than skip my morning bagel that I have with Bacon, egg and cheese… this morning I just had egg and cheese and removed the bacon. I also changed the bagel from onion to multi-grain and lowered the sugar I put in my tea from three teaspoons to two per cup. Small changes like that will make a big difference as the Eagles would say… in the long run.
I’m serious about doing this, but one change I have to make is late night eating. Sometimes I get home from work around 9:30 or 10pm, and I usually attack leftovers from the dinner Leah and the kids ate. That needs to stop. If I remove that unnecessary meal and stop eating at night, I’ll see a huge change in how I feel and in my weight as well. So that’s the plan I am making with concerns to making my goal. I have a long way to go… but I also have three years to do it. I think I can given the start I’m making.
Eventually I’m going to post a new entry to show how many of the 101 goals I’ve either completely or done a portion of. Not right now, but later this weekend. I hope eveyrone else is doing all right and I’ll make an effort to post more entries over the weekend, but I make no promises. I’ll be around to read entries and leave notes. Until then, take care…
Peter
I also have much weight to lose and envy your Wii Fit. Enjoy your time off, sir.

you can do it! you’re right — small changes will add up. something that has really helped me is logging my food. i use livestrong.com so i don’t have to manually calculate the calories but there are lots of similar sites & programs out there. it helps me to be able to visualize what i’m eating & what that means. if that makes any sense. sorry. i’m tired and rambling.

I’m pretty slack about posting updates on my 101 as well. I usually remember once I’ve finished 3 or 4 and then just post them all together.

According to Oprah (yeah, I know), late-night eating packs on more calories, bite for bite, than the same things eaten earlier in the day. Apparently 7:00pm is the time to stop eating if you’re on a normal schedule (3-4 hours before bed, I guess). So that should make a big difference. Good luck! š
