& Bingo Was His Name-o

Back in the day, when I was a wee lass and fresh and new into the working world of healthcare we would have to do a mandatory re-orientation every years. Go over HIPPA, what to do during emergencies, hand washing, and whatever else. It was 8 hours of sitting in a classroom but you were paid your normal wage, and got a free lunch. I always liked it, though after a few years I probably could have taught the class because I knew it by heart.

Nowadays, they have this thing called Relias. It’s online courses that they dole out 1-3 a month and you can still get paid for doing them here, or you can just do them at home. It’s all the same stuff. Just broken down throughout the year. Anyway, of course this is mandatory. I always do mine right away because then I don’t have to worry about it. They SAY that you can be fired for not being in compliance … but I have yet to see that happen.

I guess other people don’t feel the same as I do about getting it done right away, because apparently our building is only 51% compliant. So they are having a little contest this month. For 100% completion by 9/15 a drawing will be held for 2 $100. They actually extended it to 9/20 because there were only 18 of us in the building that were eligible – which ticked me off. I had better odds and relias is SUPPOSED to be done by the 15th each month. Not fair. But whatever. Then, as a grand prize, everyone who is 100% by the 30th goes in another drawing for a free trip for 2 to anywhere in the continental US. Airfare and hotel stay.

I wish I hadn’t told Nick about it because he started planning a trip for us to Florida in April after tax time. I told him not to get his hopes up. I am not a winner.

I’d just really appreciate $100 bucks right now. With my clothes running off and my trip only … 17ish days away. But again, I am not a winner.

In other news. My ex Anthony got out on bail and hasn’t contacted me since. His mom hit me up on Facebook, so we are supposed to let each other know if we hear anything. His “girlfriend” who was messaging me on Facebook almost every day he was in jail, has gone radio silent. I called it. I told him, when you get out, and you don’t need anything you will disappear. Man he played me like a fiddle, and I knew that shit too!

Well, perhaps more later. Work & jazz.

UPDATE!

The administrator told me that everyone on the list she highlighted wasn’t going to be in the drawing – she just highlighted corprate people who are 100% to get more people to do it. It’s more like 14 people as of right now.

So what are you going to do about your work clothes?  Maybe offer a reward?

September 20, 2019

@jaythesmartone We put a note in the laundry room requesting it be returned. Not really much else to do. Just count it as a loss I suppose.

Shouldn’t people be getting in trouble if they aren’t doing this? I’m sure it’s not the most exciting stuff, but it seems like an important part of the job.

I hope your clothes return mysteriously. Though then you have to decide what you feel comfortable wearing again after who knows what.

I hope you win all the prizes but I’m questioning the Florida trip. I dunno. I’ve just never seen the appeal. But that’s me.

@heffay I just like the idea of being on the beach sitting there … reading. Listening to the ocean. Nick wants to deep sea fish. As excited as I am for Vegas I really like the vacations where you don’t DO anything.

Also, they SHOULD be getting in trouble. It is need to know information for working in health care. You watch a little video course and then you take the test. Takes like no time. To me, there is no excuse. But nursing is so short staffed, I think they are afraid if they write people up for not doing it, they will quit and then be even shorter staffed.

@thelastdonut I agree with you about vacations. It’s fine to just do nothing. Or if you do something, it’s something that isn’t stressful.

Yeah, that makes sense. That bothers me though. So I’m guessing it really gets to you.

I’m not a Florida person myself, but I would have to say that it is pretty great being on the beach. I always seem to think that I will be one of those really unlucky people that get either get  swept out to sea or mysteriously vanish and become an episode on Investigation ID…I really need to stop watching so much murder porn (South Park reference).
