Ancient Orchids – etc.

(photo from Minnesota State Fair several years ago)

Just a test.  My entries don’t seem to be showing up on the front page.

Thought I’d try one more time.

Later –

Just a thought – maybe our OWN entries don’t show up on the front page.  Do you see your own entries there?  I’ve been bitching to the poor support people about not seeing my OWN entries on the front page.  They haven’t said I can’t see them.  They haven’t said they’ve seen them either.

I’vThis seems really petty but when I put up a ‘fantastic’ picture in the Featured Image I would like to know if others are seeing it.  No big deal.  I guess I should just work on writing entries and forget about whether they are on the front page.

One thing I really appreciate here is going back and reading my old entries and seeing notes from friends I still have, and ones who have disappeared.  I noticed there are a lot of unsigned notes, but I assume they are from people who deleted their diaries when OD was closing down.  I know people who did that.

Since this is turning into an entry I guess I could discuss the weather, or what I’m reading, or cooking, or other exciting things.

Weather has been better – not so hot.  I did read that Iowa’s annual rainfall has increased from 31 inches in 2000 to 36 inches in 2017.  No wonder it’s hard to get hay made.  No wonder there are more minor and serious flooding every year.  Temperatures are increasing too but to a lesser degree – ha ha – degree.

I’m trying to read Philip Roth’s Sabbath’s Theater.  I have a start but wouldn’t say I’m going along very fast.  I find reading harder when I’m on the internet 12 hours a day.  Of course if I’m on the internet 12 hours a day I should be writing a daily entry here and noting all of your entries too.  Hmmm there is something wrong with that logic somewhere.

I am cooking very little.  Meat for sandwiches, frozen pizzas, toast for my morning peanut butter and banana sandwich are my major efforts.  I used to cook.  More.  Now I cook less.

Other exciting things might include Gracie walks.  We stayed home today but we walked twice yesterday.  This is the year that Gracie and I are the closest in age.  She will be 10 this fall  – 70 in human years according to the legend.  I am 72 in human years – or 10.3 in dog years.  I hope Gracie doesn’t mind me divulging her age.  She’s not a particularly vain dog.

I’m able to see your entry and beautiful featured image on the front diary page.  No problem.  I’ve seen your others as well.  Odd that you can’t see your own because I am able to see mine.    Hope the issue gets resolved.

I can see yours and mine.  I’m reading Ken Follet’s amazing Century Trilogy. Working on the second one, set during WWII. I do think I like his Medieval series, Kingsbridge, better. I cook very little also. Tonight is a ‘cooking’ night. A sort of stir fry of onions, peas ham and baked butternut squash. It’s delish.

I deleted my main diary.  Not knowing what the future would bring, I killed it. Hey. Peanut butter and banana on toast ? Interesting. You and Stephanie Plunb. I like your photo, and I do enjoy reading your page when I get to. I have been without the internet for some time. Being without the internet is to be sensory deprived. Sigh. So many questions so few answers.

Odd.  I see your entries on the front page and mine too.  Beautiful orchid photo…why are you on the internet 12 hours a day?  Working or researching?  You and Gracie…love that.

I loved this entry and the orchids are lovely!

Those are beautiful orchids! I think we all used to cook more. I wish daily for more time and energy to cook.
