My Love Hate Relationship with Excedrin Migraine

So I’ll start this entry by saying that last night was one of the best nights I’ve spent in a long time.  It all started with a power outage. I know that sounds kinda funny, but it’s true. Our power was out for an hour. So I went next door to see if they had power. Turned out to be a county wide problem. No big deal. My neighbor’s grandkids were over and I gotta say, I have so much fun with these little guys. They’re five and seven.

By the time the power came back on, senor Migraine was visiting. Again, this was really no big deal except I didn’t want to come home and stay. I hadn’ seen these little guys or their parents in a long while, and unlike my Mom and Daddy C (he’s my stepfather so sometimes you’ll see me refer to him as Daddy or Daddy C, just a side note) , I really connect with Rob and Sam.  So instead, I came home and made the potatoes for Mom for her dinner since I’d eaten at the neighbor’s.  When those were done, I took two Excedrin Migraine pills, grabbed my Nintendo Switch and left to go back over.

It took about 20 minutes, especially with the noisy crowd next door, but I finally began to feel relief from the headache and was able to actually enjoy  my time with the kids and adults both. <3  Great, I think. Then I started playing Splatoon 2. And that was  the end of my night. (Okay not really. I was up until about 12am playing Splatoon 2 because I had forgotten about Splatfest this weekend, and I was desperate to get to Champion. That didn’t happen, but still had a good time revisiting some of my favorite stages.)  After seeing if it was true about Mario Odyssey being even prettier on a TV screen , I finally settled down to try and sleep.

Ha. Ha. Hahahahaha! Why am I laughing? Well. Here is where the Hate relationship comes in with Excedrin Migraine. I slept maybe 2 hours? But it wasn’t even a restful sleep. So I know I will probably crash at some point later today. So much for  being productive. I had plans today. Important plans! One of the key components of Excedrin Migraine is the caffeine. Normally, I don’t do caffeine after a certain time of night but when I take migraine medicine like this, I don’t have much of a choice because it’s take it with all of it’s ingredients, or don’t take it at all. And given that I wasn’t sure when I would see Sam, Rob, and the kids again, I couldn’t miss out while I had the chance. Besides, Deidre, Jim’s wife really wanted me around, too.

And when i did take this medicine? 6pm. It would’ve been roughly about 4 hours before I would’ve laid down to go to bed, if I hadn’t been so hellbent on playing Splatoon 2. So either way I look at it, I would’ve had a heck of a time trying to sleep. -sigh- So while I love the medicine for working as fast as it is advertised to do, I hate the side effects that the caffeine causes me. And I’m guessing I will probably have a caffeine crash at some point, and when I do, I can kiss my productivity bye bye.

So there you have it. Why I am up at a quarter to 6am when i am normally not even stirring until 8 or 9. -sigh-
