thinking about moving

Life has dumped another load of lemons in our living room so we are drinking lots of lemonade.  While we don’t have all the relevant information yet (some of this depends on legal stuff that has yet to start going through the court system, something that is supposed to happen later this month), it looks likely that we will be moving in the spring of 2014.  That’s when our mortgage will be up for renewal and currently it looks as if we will not be able to afford to stay in this very large and expensive to run, heat etc house.  This is not really that big a deal as this is something that has been on the table on and off over the last year.

My daughter has very mixed feelings about moving.  She is very routine oriented, that’s one of the ways she copes with the wildly erratic sensory input she gets from the world.  On the one hand, she has lived in this house her whole life.  On the other hand, she wants a walk in closet and now a room with a bay window or a turret:)  The walk in closet is very unlikely.  But today on the bus we passed through the southend of Halifax where there are a lot of lovely old houses.  Some of them are now divided into flats or apartments and quite a few of them have bay windows with window seats in them:)  That area of town is also very close to my husband’s work, that is his real work place, not the one he is in temporarily, due to a huge flood in his building back in early november.   Even contemplating living somewhere else is a huge step for my dd and I was very happy to see her even entertain the idea for a short while today.

Now to find a place that we can afford and that is in one of the locations we would prefer.  Then there is all the work this house needs, all the sorting and packing that still needs to be done even though I have been working on that for more than a year already.

Sigh.

In knitting terms, I knit a hat in less than a week!!!  It is called the Vermonter.  Here is a link to the free pattern:

It’s good that she can consider the idea without undue stress. Good luck!
